Good is good and evil is evil

Is man good or evil?

Is fire good or evil? It heats and burns.

 

The Bible makes it clear that mankind is fallen to a fundamentally evil state and even when doing "good" things does not do so because of any inherent righteousness. We're really a rather sad lot before God despite our perceived relative standing among our like kind. Only by the grace of God - the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ - can we appear righteous before the Father. He's our stand in advocate without which we're doomed. Only by the guideance of the Holy Spirit can we hope to do - or even think - anything "good" and, given our rebellious and prideful selves, we'd really rather continue the evil which comes naturally from birth.

 

Our nation is doomed. The dream and great experiment is all but dead in the water thanks to our degenerate society and evil leaders.

God is Good and before man there was only good and when the world ends evil will be destroyed and there will only be good again.

 

As long as we do Good, evil does not exist. When we cease to do good, then evil is present.

 

In your life............. not too sure it makes sense to me.

Well, as long as Adam and Eve did good and obeyed God then evil did not exist in their lives.

What is good and what is evil? Some issues are black and white and strightforward. Many more are gray and subjective.

 

Grey is useful to people who do not want to be held to biblical standards. This thread seems a bit out of place.

 

That I know. I am not of them who call evil good or good evil.

 

Oh is that what it is?!? Silly me, I thought the gray areas were those that are not clear biblical standards. You know ideas or ideologies that are not even addressed biblically. Truth is pretty subjective, so I am willing to bet good and evil are to.

 

Truth is or it isn't, it is not subjective.

 

It is to some extent.

To the eagle, to be an eagle or like an eagle is supremely good while to be a lamb or like a lamb is bad. To the lamb, to be a lamb or lamb-like is good while eagles and eagle-like creatures are evil.

 

An eagle is still an eagle, a lamb is still a lamb, that is truth. Their feelings about their existence is subjective and is not relative to truth. Beyond that, if they were granted reading and reasoning capabilities they would know from the Bible, that all of God's creation is good and they should humble themselves before their foolish pride gets them in trouble.

A good democrat might say "It is good to allow a woman to choose death for her unborn child."

It is bad to allow Bible based teaching in public schools.
