CMG, if you are for federal welfare, why not just be honest and stop calling yourself a conservative?

I'm by no means slick, cmg. But I am struck by your continued reluctance to deal with substantive issues but rather to continue to engage in the politics of character assassination.

Listen to who is talking. You two had better get back to the your role as demonstraters against the GOP in the streets of New York. No one is impressed by your tactics. Your books are out of balance. You are illogical. Your platform is against sending food and water to the Sudan, but you call that godly.

I am all for sending food and water to Sudan. How much have you sent, church mouse guy?

You are so kind. And so polite. I hope that when you get my age someone like you writes things like you write to me to you. Certainly, age and education mean nothing to you in your quest for political power. One can see that Peroutka would like to put the elderly to death.

Now, seriously, cmg, you must retract that statement. That kind of language has no place on the Baptist Board.

This thread has become very ugly.

Please lets return to the specified topic of the GOP platform and Big Government Conservatism

We need to be patient. But how long have conservative Christians supported the GOP, only to be shoved to the side when it came time to govern?

A larger-than-expected turnout for Peroutka would be a shot across to let them know they are sailing in the wrong direction.
</font>[/QUOTE]The only thing is this, Galatian, there is shooting across the bow with a derringer and then shooting across the bow with a cannon! To vote for a third party at this juncture would be more like the derringer. Right at this point, one must fight from within the party if they are in the party. I'm an independent, so I don't side with either party or any of the third party candidates. I vote for the person the Lord leads me to vote for. In this case it's GW Bush.

One reason the conservatives in the GOP have lost ground is because they have not been vocal enough at every turn and have decided to cut and run to third parties, not vote at all, or just give up all together, never writing their congressmen/women and letting them know of their displeasure at the direction the party has taken. They've basically become 'french' and surrendered. :(

Thank you!! And everyone should notice that the orininal post is not from a Constitution Party source, but from a group of conservatives that have endorsed Bush. If they can see that the GOP is moving toward Big Government, why can't others see it?

No matter what--all of the $$$$$$ and all of the insults of the right-wing--no one is going to vote for Peroutka $$$$$$ or ask the Constitution Party $$$$$$ for anything. All the Constitution Party $$$$$$ wants is power and money. People of goodwill reject the Constitution Party and the right wing for their transparent brutal tactics and their ill-natured leader Peroutka, who cannot be polite on a talk show unless everyone agrees with him. Peroutka will not bully his way into the American scene with insults against his opponents.

When the country is as divided as it is, a few thousand votes can tip the balance. Bush knows this. If even a detectable defection of Christians occured, future candidates would be less scornful of conservative Christians. If not, they can assume that they can still do anything and the faithful will line up and vote as they are told.

A derringer would have changed the result last time.

That's too late. Neither wing of the demopublicans are going to reform. It's past that point.

We can take it, or we can stand up and say "enough." But we have to speak in the language they understand.

That's the ballot. It's not hard to to this, and still let Bush or Kerry win; if you live in a state where Bush or Kerry has a substantial lead, you can safely vote for someone trustworthy, without worring about throwing the election.

And yet, a substantial number of such votes would mean that the demopublicans would sit up and take notice.

Besides, you could sleep better knowing that you voted for someone who was not proabortion (with exceptios) like Bush and Kerry)

Seems to me that the ballot doesn't mean a whole lot when there is an electoral college. Maybe that's why neither party is afraid.

It can cause some problems. But if we lose it, federalism takes yet another hit.

And federalism has worked pretty well.
