Also to Mrs KJV...I wanted to let you know, that so far in 2002, that we have witnessed 12 precious souls saved thru our ministry...10 of these were over the age of 30 including an alchohlic 60 year old man who is now serving in his church planning on being a Sunday school teacher...If the right kind of songs with the clear gospel message are being sung God can use this to touch people who have hardened there heart to preaching..Just wanted tto let you know that people are still being Saved thru the music ministries....Keep using your talent for him !

Teresa, sarcastic posts like this only strengthen Aaron's arguments. Did you look up the verse ? Why are the CCMers so angry all the time ? :(

I do believe people are called to the music ministry. And traveling musicians are a part of that ministry. I see nothing wrong with it.

That's right, yet it is the spiritual gifts that are to be used to edify the body in corporate worship, not our natural talents.

where did this idea of vain preaching and sermons come in? The Word of God never comes back void. I'm a professional singer I've been around and I'm just telling you want I have observed in the past and present. [IMG]

I do apologize! It was one of those days when sarcasm was all I could do! [IMG]

You know those days....no matter how hard you try, no matter what you say or do comes out as sarcasm?

I probably should have worded it differently, but I don't think that that constitutes any revisions on my post. What's been posted has been posted, and I will have to work with that! :(

    Thanx, Teresa.

I think a very good thing to keep in mind is something my music director told me, under his discipleship....

Matthew 4:4,"man does not live by bread alone...."

He told me this verse could mean that listening to only one style of music can make you hate other good music. I have this problem with bluegrass, you see. I didn't want to hear anything else, but after looking into it, and searching prayerfully, I have a new found love for the hymns of old, and I find them wonderful to sing.

In my youth, I always thought Rock & Roll was for idiots. I liked jazz, & country. The Rolling Stones, The Who, all those others sounded like noise. I hated it. After joining the Navy, I was introduced to some Rock that I did like a lot, but that Bluegrass....it makes me jump up and down. Always has.

I have heard very little Christian Rock that I like. Most of it sounds pretty wimpy. I'm not saying I think it's evil, but I see some pretty weak arguments for it, and some very strong arguments against it. My advice would just be to carefully listen, are you getting more out of the message, or the way it's played ?

I read some excellent POD lyrics, but when I went and listened to the song, I couldn't understand them. Bummer. And the more mainstream CCM artists that I hear...well let's just say that I find it very hard to listen to.

I throughly enjoy singing the hymns of old, and I listen to a mixture....Soft rock (love songs) and CCM...Mainly the CCM that you can understand....like Micheal W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, etc., etc...

My second passion has been music, God first of course....This means that I have explored and listen to virtually all kinds of music.

I have listened to at least 4 different styles of music in one night and one concert, Bill Gaither and his Homecoming friends.

I supposed what I'm trying to say is that, although my posts may look like I only listen to CCM, I do listen to many other styles.

When I get bored, I turn off the radio and pull out my book of classical music, or the hymns of old, sit down at my piano, and just play, play, play! I can't think of anything better than performing a concert for the greatest audience of all time, God!

Amen to that. I would like to think, that while I play, God considers it "Sweet savor". (Leviticus)
