Gov. LePage takes aim at drug dealers in Maine

""Everybody in Maine, we have Constitutional Carry. Load up and get rid of the drug dealers,” Gov. LePage said.

A day after suggesting Maine should bring back public executions and "guillotines" to get rid of drug dealers, Wednesday brought more tough talk, but he denies he's encouraging vigilante justice.

"Where's the outrage? Let's get mad. Let's stop it,” Gov. LePage said.

Gov. LePage has been doing a lot of talking the past two days about harsher penalties for out-of-state drug dealers.

"Would you like to see the death penalty for drug dealers?" CBS 13 Reporter Brad Rogers asked.

"Yes, absolutely,” Gov. LePage replied.

On Tuesday, the governor joked about public executions with a guillotine. "What I think we ought to do is bring the guillotine back,” Gov. LePage said. "It was a joke, yes."..."

Joke or not? Regardless, he sounds like Trump, and to me it's just another indicator of the growing trend towards extreme actions to combat extreme conditions such as lawlessness, terrorism, extreme deficit spending, etc. Just the other night KY governor Matt Bevin announced an austere budget (which takes a lot of guts for any politician to do) in order to confront this commonwealth's economic woes head on, something that's desperately needed to tackle our federal government's 19 trillion dollar debt. Think Trump has the guts to do it?
