Just listened to a great preacher that I never heard before. His name is Jeff Owens. He is one of the best fundamental Bible preachers that I have heard. He preaches on just about everything. No fruit cake, sissy Christian will last long on this type of preaching. Either you burn up like all the wood, hay, stubble, or you truly come out purer from the purifiying flame of good Bible preaching from the real word of God.(KJV) Thank God there are still men out there who will stand up and say "Thus saith the Lord!"
Anyone else ever hear this preacher? [IMG]

For a minute I thought you had discovered the Puritan John Owens...never heard of this one.

Try reading some John Owen (and other Puritans) if you can. [IMG]

Personally, I like Dr. Tony Evans. I also like to listen to John Hagee now and again. Woah...I even like to listen to Adrian Rogers! [IMG]

Doesn't John Hagee preach that all jews are going to heaven no matter what? I use to listen to him and stopped after hearing that.

I like Tony Evans and Dr. Rogers too.

I'm not sure if I've heard Jeff Owens before.

I don't ever recall hearing him teach that, but it's possible. I don't agree with everything any of them preach, but I take the meat and leave the bone, as the old saying goes.

I'm curious as to what a "fruit cake, sissy Christian" means.

Not really sure. Was it Jeff Owens that said it? If so...consider the source.

Oh...that's right, Diane. Again...that explains it. Now, if that fruitcake has blueberry brandy on it, I'll take some! LOL

Gibbers, I know quite a few fruitcakes (not anyone here in particular...or maybe...well...nah!) and they don't seem to be sissies either!

Thank you for this refreshing thread, which has nothing to do with some of the other recent threads that have been started! :D

I have listened a lot to Tony Evans lately, and find that his use of illustrations is exceptionally good, along with his exposition of scripture. I listen to him on the radio and have a couple of his books.

The Lord greatly used Dr. Evans in our lives when we were away from the Lord. He was one of the two preachers I would listen to, and God used his ministry to help start the healing process in our lives. I thank the Lord for him and for John Hagee! [IMG]

Same here. Thank God I've been delivered from the legalist of the world. One thing I learned from them is the more you holler and spit the more it hides the fact you don't know your Bible very well.

John Owen over any Hyles college grad anyday.

Sorry for the confusion about the definition on sissy, fruit cake Christians. I'm up here in Canada and we have many of this creature. Let me define.

Fruit cake sissy Christian: Defined as a liberal Bible corrector, with little or no old fashioned dress standards, who is not completely oppossed to queer marriage, (If your not totally against it your for it) often seen endorsing "Life style evangelism," as the sole method of reaching people for Christ, doesn't like door knocking, street preaching, or preachers who make them upset every now and then by preaching on their sin. The males of this variety are often seen with long girly lookin hair and tattoos, because after all, "this is the age of grace, dude!"

This is my abbreviated definition. Maybe you don't have any of these in the states but they are a common sight up here.

Hope this clears things up for ya'll.

Diane, sounds like your a little predjudice against Hyles college. Maybe you could like AVL1984 said, "eat the meat and spit out the bone." I'm sure even you could learn something from this preacher

Please, fundamentalfire, explain the phrase "Bible Corrector". If you're referring to people who don't use the KJ VERSION as their primary source, then you'd better be reading the terms for posting. I'm not sure, but I think these are the forums that don't allow that, especially since they haven't been corrected.

"Fruit cake sissy Christian: Defined as a liberal Bible corrector, with little or no old fashioned dress standards,"

Since when was the validity of someone's Christianity based on "old fashioned dress standards"? Do you know back in the "old days" those "dress standards" obviously weren't "old fashioned"?

On everything else I'd agree with you but I took exception the "old fashioned dress standards" statement.

By the way...I used to like John Hagee myself. Not so much anymore. I like Charles Stanley.

Well I love FruitCake and it's certainly not for sissies!

Tony Evans is a great preacher. Saw him on t.v. last week and he and the wife look like they've been eating a lot of fruitcake!
