guests can view member profiles? I didn't know this until the other day, when I clicked on the bottom of members currently online, didn't know you could see which forum or thread a person was viewing either. But I did find there were guests viewing member profiles. I think at the very least a person should have to be a logged in member to view our profiles. Which is why theres no personal information in mine.

as guests they shouldn't be able to see anything about us, any info we post in our profiles should be for members only, not just anyone.

I am afraid one must be very careful with personal information these days. I had a woman call my home one day claiming I was dating her sister and wanted to know if her sister had moved in with me. If you can even imagine that! Fortunately my wife has been around the corner a few times and knows me well, but it could have been disastrous, if you know what I mean.

Do be careful on the net. Donna is being clever by limiting her personal information.

    Cheers,

    Jim

So clicked a new member to view their profile becasue they had an unusal name, don't ask don't remember, and it said I did not ahve permission to view their profile. I had to ask why, I, a registered logged in member could not view a profile of another members, when guests are allowed to view my profile.

Click on "User CP" at the top. Then click "Profile Privacy". Set up it how you like and only those you want can see what you want to see.

DonnA - I just logged out and then went to your pubic profile. All I could see were the statistics - how many posts you've posted, I could click to see all of your posts and see the threads you've started. It doesn't have any of the other information that's on the profile. Nothing that you put in yourself as to where you live and things like that.
