Curious... What is the alternative to bargaining with them? They were elected to power by the very people we helped become a democracy. Now it's not just a militant group, it's a foreign government complete with flag and mortars.

Bargaining is not a realistic option. That has been tried over and over and when you give them great concessions it is never enough and they are always the ones to walk away from the table. They want Israel gone and that is the single and only concession they will accept. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delluded.

Shock and awe. The knowledge that this kind of activity WILL result in resolute, decisive destruction, every time, is the only fix, IMO. But will that be tried?

Won't work unless Israel is willing to occupy Gaza and the West Bank with tens of thousands of troops and suffer the ongoing casualties that would come with decades of occupation. A war cannot be won without boots on the ground. Everyone should have learned that lesson in Iraq.

One...where is it written we can't change policies towards a country? If they degrade, then we have every right to switch from friend to foe.

Two...since when did bargaining with terrorists ever become productive?

This situation is indeed difficult. But I'd rather have an alliance with Israel in this situation than bother negotiating with these cretins.

I agree, friends can become foe.

    1. I don't find harm in listening to them. There is a big difference between listening and bargaining.

    2. Our military is stretched beyond its means as it is, we're going to have to exercise some political strategy since military options would break our military backs and would probably bring Iran and a few other Muslim countries into the fight.

This is one of the things this prolonged Iraq invasion has caused, militarily was are overstretched and I see the draft in our future.

If there's no way you'll bargain, why listen?

Well while you are at it cover your neck lest the slit your throat while you are listening. How many reporters end up captured and imprisoned while they were "listening"?

You are correct. Democrats and Republicans continue to pour billions of our tax dollars trying to bring peace to nations and groups of people that will be fighting until the end of time.

That is all Hamas understands. However, it should be Israel's shock and awe, not ours.

There were boots on the ground in Vietnam. It takes more. If one is going to war, then go to war to win, quickly, decisively, and exit. One would think that after Vietnam and now Iraq we would learn. If you are going to half fight and linger, dont bother.

Most everyone in the world knew when WW1 was over. Everyone know when the Big War in Europe was over. Most everyone knew when Japan surrendered.

Since then? The Korean War has been going on for 50+ years. The US got kicked out of VietNam. When's the last time a war was won . . . by anyone . . . since VietNam? How will Israel know when their war is over? When Jesus returns?

Because they may propose a solution everyone can agree with no bargaining involved...

AMEN to that, if it wasn't for the oil they have I believe we could just let them go at each other. It doesn't make sense getting in a family squabble...

So let me get this straight. You advocate the slitting of my throat?

More false claims of doing nothing from you I see.
