I used to listen a lot to Harold Camping UNTIL he started to shout "LEAVE THE CHURCHES !! LEAVE THE CHURCHES !! THE HOLY SPIRIT HAS LEFT THE CHURCHES, SO WHY DON'T YOU ?"
    What do y'all think ?
His thesis is that the visible body/ies of Christ composed of both the saved and the unsaved, the elect and the unelect, have been so corrupted in doctrine, practice and belief at this point of time because Satan is the one ruling in the church/es, with permission from God or at least passive permission from the Almighty.

And that all these events that are happening right now is part of the great tribulation which will culminate in the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the last judgment.

Also, that right now, the "latter rain" spoken of in the Bible is taking place which is the sending forth of the gospel thru individuals who have left the church and congregate simply as fellowships who have pooled their resources together so that they can preach the gospel and thus help God create the environment whereby He will be able to call, regenerate and save His elect, which environment is one of being "under the hearing of the Word of God." And guess who is in the forefront of the latter rain, doing all that is necessary to reach God's people ? Family Radio, who else.

So, what do y'all think ?

I hope this is the proper forum for this topic, if not, then, let the moderators take it elsewhere.

Harold is an amateur scholar - he plays the game as if he had actually studied the languages and knew what he was talking about.

I gave up on him when he started to pretend that he could translate Greek correctly even though he knew nothing about it. That was a long time ago. When he was saying "flee the translators, the linguists, the experts and just listen to me" - I considered him to be a fraud.

    Bob --

Just curious. What was a Seventh Day Adventist like you doing listening to a Dutch Reformed Calvinist like him? Interesting.

My opinion. He's lost his mind.

Brother Ed -- who used to listen to him also until Jesus didn't come in 1994.

I began listening to Camping in the 1970s, and quit in the late 80s when I could see where he was going. He was really good at one time, but I really believe old age has gotten to him. He is older than dirt--must be in his 90s by now--and he has definitely lost it.

R.C Sproul, David Jeremiah, John McArthur, Camping, D J Kennedy, Swindall, etc -

I have listened to them all and have really enjoyed them - except for Camping. I find his teaching to be baseless - useless pointless. And besides he is a little too cultic for my tastes.

As for Calvinsts like McArthur and Sproul - I agree with the Calvinist teaching on total depravity and I agree with a "kind" of perserverance of the saints and a "kind" of unconditional election.

I just don't believe in OSAS, or limited atonement, or irresistable grace. ( I also don't believe in the secret rapture).

    In Christ,

    Bob

When you Email Camping he will not even return answers when you ask him questions. He is an island to himself. I think he was a Reformed Baptist before he exiled the churces.

In I Corinthians 11:26 God tells us to receive the sacrament of Holy Communion until He returns in the clouds. And sin He has not returned His age of grace is in force and the church deserves all of our support, financially and physically.

The first four points of his Calvinism is incorrect plus he believes as does the Catholic Church that there is but one final Judgment Day for saints and sinners alike. Camping, in his confused mind, believes that we are in the Great Tribulation. I think the Catholic Church thinks that we are building the church presently in the Kingdom Age of His end times events.

The same is that he is President of Family Radio and no one seems to want or can throw the apostate out of his position. The man, in my opinion, well deserves the judgment of the Lord as in the 'sin unto death.' [I Corinthians 11:30b; I John 5:16]

Correction: 'The shame is that he is President of Family Radio . . . '
