Has Either Candidate done anything for Ike

    We know when Gustav come through New Orleans it was highly engaged by both candidates and Bush. Has anyone seen any help from either camp for Ike?

    The best thing both Obama and McCain can do for Texas is to stay away.

    They'd just be a distraction and get in the way.

    They could dispatch Sarah Palin to help. Of the 4 candidates, I believe she would be the one most likely willing to get her hands dirty and actually help instead of just pose for pictures.

    I know what you mean but unfortunately Palin would come with a host of aids, secret service and media. She too would be a distraction.

    My question was more in the way of raising money, arranging volunteers, encouraging industry to send supplies etc... They can use generators, clean water and many basic necessities. We did good with Gustav but seem to be ignoring Ike.

    Texas is not New Orleans and Texans are not entitlement junkies like New Orleans residents.

    The pols just need to stay away and do their grandstanding from a distance.

    We'll take care of our own.

    I normally 'don't like' Texans or Texas as a rule (please see the humour in that) , but I think this is a brilliant post and a fantastic attitude! :thumbs: :applause:
