James Newman said "I reject the other versions, so that leaves me in a wierd position."

    You said it. [IMG]

I don't know, but the NASB 1995 Update Onlys are doing GREAT. And as Rick Warren says, "We should never criticize a method God is blessing."

Sometimes I feel like I need an electronic towel to sop up all the dripping sarcasm.

What we need is a "sarcasm" icon. Any suggestions?
    just doesn't cut it.

And maybe a "frustrated/suicide" icon - like head banging and maybe a pistol-to-the-head.

I seem to remember Chris Temple (or maybe it was TomVols) popularizing a head banging icon a few years ago. I have no idea what happened to it, but it was definitely my all-time favorite.

Most of the IFB Churches in Michigan that have larger congregations that are Baptist are not KJVO.

The small churches (under 100 attendees) are the most likely candidates to be KJVO.

I came from one (30 years)and have visited many all over the state while vacationing or just visiting. They preach from the pulpit that any church who isn't insisting on KJV is preaching a false gospel.

I don't have a problem with the KJV. That is what I use - even though my Pastoral staff frequently uses the NASB and sometimes references the NIV and NET Bible for clarification.

My issue will never be with a church that preaches from the KJV but those that condem those christians and churches of "like faith" for using other credible versions.

Those who condemn others have not read their Bible. The only People Jesus ever condemned were the religious people--the self righteous--the Pharisees.

Don't forget those of us who are 1611AV-preferred. Our KJV's have "all 80 Books of the Bible." [Those of you who know the source of that quote are probably smiling!!!]

Yes, Askjo, anyone who has been on this board longer than 30 days knows your passionate KJVO stance. But don't forget: if your "King James Bible" ain't got the Apocrypha, then you ain't got a REAL "King James Bible." [sic]

Many IFB churches here in Richmond are KJVO and are cordial enough to warn us with their signs that proudly proclaim "Independent, Fundamental, King James Bible." I was in Williamsburg today and noticed a sign like this while at the traffic light by K-Mart and Dairy Queen (if you want to get a look at it). However, certainly not all of them are KJVO. My parents attend an IFB church in Knoxville, TN, and they are not KJVO.

A sincere hope that everyone is doing well on this lovely autumn day,

    BiR

I was going to post something very similar, but I have been accused in the past of equating numbers with success.

I better PM you, it sounds like we could be members of the same church.

Anyone know of any KJVO churches that are winning people to Jesus and discipling them. I just personally don't know of a single KJVO church that is actually growing. Do you?

I do!!! Family Baptist Church in Lebanon, TN is doing just that. We are KJVO, but we have a heart and an understanding for those who are not. My husband is very adamant in his sermons that we cannot shove our standards down people's throats. It has to be by conviction that a person decides to be KJVO.

Speaking of growing KJVO churches. Our church has visitation every week. Depending on the visit, it may turn out to be an opportunity to lead someone to Christ. Our city is very heavy with Church of Christ and very liberal Southern Baptists. So many of the people we encounter tell us that they have never had anyone knock on their door much less had anyone witness to them. Many of these people have visited our church and they love it. KJV and all!!!

We have a LOT of IFB/KJVO churches here in our area here in Middle Tennessee that all seem to be competing with each other on bus-routes, etc, stealing each others people....Franklin Road Baptist Church, Middle Tennessee Baptist Church, Heartland Baptist Church, Bellwood Baptist Church...I could name several more, but these are the best known churches. There are several more smaller churches that have split off of these to help propogate the IFB/KJVO stance. Many people are leaving the movement and going to the SBC because of the strife among the IFB churches, and I can't say I blame them. With so many extra-biblical doctrines in them, I was glad to get out of them myself.

</font>[/QUOTE]With my wife and I considering a move to Lebanon, TN, we would be interested to see what kind of a reception we would get once we walked in the door. We are KJV preferred, though not KJVO. I know many of the same people you two know. Don't be surprised if we give it a go. ;)

That would be wonderful AVL1984!!!! If you do choose to visit...you will find that everyone gets a very warm welcome and they occasionally get a hug or two from some of our members.

We just had a lady (and her two sons) visit yesterday that had been asked to leave two prior churches simply because she is white and her husband is black. They were greeted with the same amount of love that everyone else was greeted with. I think she was a little shocked. I hope our church never becomes a place of meeting for "God's chosen frozen" (like the last church we attended).

I preached at a church in another state and one of the ladies came to Christ. She told me when I visited her that she had visited the church at the end of her street and they told her to leave. They told her she wasn't welcome because she had pants on and her hair was too short. Her pants were women's slacks and her hair was about medium length down to her shoulders. How's that for treatment to a non-believer?
