Yes God has given the gift of prophecy to us as He promised - and Paul predicts it in Eph 4, in 1Cor 12 and in 1Thess 5:19-20.

    In Christ,

    Bob

Of course you are talking about Ellen White - who has failed on every single one of her prophecies.

Be honest - do you really believe all that nonsense of her's?

Your habit rejecting 1Thess 5:19-20 is not mine.

Your habit of rejecting 1Cor 14:1 -- is not mine.

Your habit of rejecting the warning given in God's Word in Isaiah 30
    is not mine.

9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord:
10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:
11 Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.

1Thess 5:19-20 and 1Cor 14:1 do NOT make Ellen White a TRUE prophet.

In fact all her failed prophecies prove exactly the opposite.

What does scripture tell us about believing in false prophets.

Come out from the SDA Babylon, BobRyan!!!!

Repent from your false gospel while you still can!!!!

The Bible says to listen to - and accept God's prophets.

Your habit rejecting 1Thess 5:19-20 is not mine.

I am tied to the idea of believing the Bible on this doctrine and accepting it.

You are free to rebel against it if you wish.

Please tell us all how you know that Ellen White specifically is a prophet?

Which of her many failed prophecies or factually incorrect teachings convinced you?

    BE SPECIFIC.

I know that the gift of prophecy is legit according to the Bible -

The Bible says to listen to - and accept God's prophets.

Your habit rejecting 1Thess 5:19-20 is not mine.

Your habit of rejecting 1Cor 14:1 -- is not mine.

    ---

So far you object to the Bible itself on this doctrine - long before we ever get to the subject of Ellen White.

NO ONE is rejecting 1Thess 5:19-20

NO ONE is rejecting 1Cor 14:1

NO ONE is rejecting the warning given in God's Word in Isaiah 30

But EVERYONE is noticing that you are absolutely unable to show that Ellen White is a TRUE prophet.

Quote some of her words and then show us how they PROVE that she is a TRUE prophet.

NONE are rejecting those verses, just the SDA trying to make the false prophetetness to fit those verses!

NO more revelation coming from God, creased with John !

1 Thess 5:19-20 do not oppose, reject, contradict prophetic messages given to us from God through his prophets.

1Cor 14:1 - desire earnestly spiritual gifts - especially that you may prophesy (instead of making stuff up about the death of John and the end of spiritual gifts).

    Isaiah 30

9 That this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the Lord:
10 Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits:

Getting to these Bible basics is "step one" to understanding and accepting the Bible teaching on the gift of prophecy.

Making stuff up about "no more messages allowed to come from God" as if such a text existed in the Bible - is not as compelling as some seem to have at first imagined.

How do you know that God has given prophetic messages through Ellen White?

Why do you accept her as a prophet and not others?

She supposedly wrote over fifty books - it should be easy for you to pick out a few sentences somewhere and explain to us how her words are a message from God.

How do you know that Ellen White did not just "make stuff up" and that you have not simply bought into a huge lie?

BobRyan, why don't you ask your "Saturday School" teacher for an example of Ellen White's words that prove that she is a true prophet and get back with us.

Surely someone in your church can provide you with the answer to my question that you yourself can not give.

Bumped for BobRyan who has been back to the board but so far has chosen not to answer this very important question.

BobRyan, that Ellen White was a prophet goes to the very heart of the beliefs of the SDA.

How can you possibly not have an answer as to how you know that Ellen White SPECIFICALLY was given messages from God?

Gosh... why doesn't BobRyan want to address the question?

Could it be that he has no answer?

The Bible tells us to accept the messages God gives to His prophets for the church (see 1Thess 5:19-20, Isaiah 8) and to "desire earnestly spiritual gifts especially that you may prophesy" 1Cor 14:1.

But God also tells us to "test the spirits" and to discern between true prophets and false prophets (1Johh 4:1-3). Notice that God does not say "the test is - the prophet has to be named the Apostle John" when giving this message to John in 1John 4:1 - as so many have imagined the test to be.

In 1John 4 a test - is that they have to teach and promote the fact that Jesus is the Son of God who came in the flesh in the incarnation.

In Isaiah 8:20 the test is that the prophet's message claimed to be from God must also be judged by and tested by the doctrines as stated in the Bible itself. (This is why I find it pointless to discuss the subject of a true or false prophet with someone before first discussing the subject of basic Bible doctrines.)

And another example is that the message must be found to be accurate and true in terms of events, past, present, future as it is claimed that God is making the statement - God is giving the message to a prophet.

Just a few examples of this can be found here -
    http://amazingdiscoveries.org/S-prophecy-Ellen_White-true-predictions-Bible

However I do not claim that proven predictions alone make one a valid prophet - the Bible test of Isaiah 8:20 is key.

(Since a number of quotes and predictions at that link involve health -- it is Interesting that the Journal of the American Medical Assoc came out with this study related to health and Seventh-day Adventists --
    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB100...41042514.html?mod=WSJ_hpp_MIDDLE_Video_second)

In all of these areas I test the messages that I read from Ellen White in the cases where she claims the message comes from God - and so far - I have found them to be accurate and approved by the Bible test.

I do not find that to be the case with Joseph Smith or with Methodists like Oral Roberts or Kenneth Copeland.

    in Christ,

    Bob
