I haven't thought about this in a long time. Back in the day, when I was Mr. Party, I went on a week long Everclear binge. I contiued to go to work, but after the 5th or 6th night of drinking 180 proof, it caught up to me. At midnight I called into work and told them to tell Rob, the manager, that, "I aint comin in tomorrow and you can make up any reason you like."

The next moning Rob called me and said, "So, you're not feeling too well this morning, I hear. Don't worry, you don't need to come in today...Or tomorrow...or the next day...or the next day."

He hired me back a week later though, and told me to lay off the substances. It would take another year or two for that though. :D

Yep, as embarrassing as it is to admit.....I got fired from McDonalds. Yep, that's right. My mananger told me that I was scheduled to go over my yearly evalutation at 1 p.m. I was scheduled to get off work at 1 p.m., so I asked if was being paid for the evaluation time, and he said "no". I told him I would go over my evaluation with him during my working hours. He didn't like my "tone" told me he was sick of my mouth and told me to leave. Well, being the hot-tempered mouthy 16 year old I was at the time (now I'm 32 [IMG] ) I changed out of my uniform, walked up to him in front of gobs of customers and threw my uniform at him and told him to &^*^$^&* my ^(^*^*^% and stomped out! I got a standing ovation from the customers and crew though!!! I thought I was soooo cool  until I got in my car and realized I had no gas, no money and now, no job!!!! YIKES! I found another job within a week though.

I posted on another board that as a pastor for 15 years--I have never been let go or fired by any church---yet!!! I do keep a runnin' deposit on U-Haul, though!!!

I had a hunch that one particular church was fixin' to give me my walkin' papers--so I told my wife, "They fixin' to fire me!" She says, "Whatcha gonna do!" I said, "I'm gonna rob them of the glory!!" So I resigned--we moved to her folks and ooohhhhhh!!!! I never missed a Sunday opportunity to preach---I haven't missed a Sunday's worth of preachin in 15 years!!

  4. never been fired, but quit due to being accused of fraud at Meijer. Worst darn job I have ever had. Now have the best job I've ever had and hopefully won't quit until I become a preacher, like blackbird. ;)

    Interesting stories btw!

Lets see - firing stories I got 2

Donut store - hired me off the street - gave me no training - then 2 days later after making 20 bucks in tips at the cash register - The owner told me I wouldnt work out, and that he was actually looking for a woman; and then he stole my tips.

He tried to hire me back again later that month ok a week and a half later but I told him basically you said you wanted a woman - Im a guy - I got more tips then your trained staff - WITHOUT any training - You pay worse then McDonalds - Im outta here

Second firing story - Im a trained computer programmer - this company lies to me and tells me its computer programming - its a telemarketing company - I complain enough to get a "juicy" job of being tech support for Network Solutions.

However we had to answer so many calls and such per day
I never met quota - but every call I was tested on I scored either perfect or made only one mistake. I get promoted to trainer, because my calls get done according to what my employer's client had asked us to do. However my employer didnt want us doing that because they hired anyone who could understand English - but didnt know anything else. My co-worker transfers a call to me by conference call rather then a transfer listens into my call - realizes im doing what network solutions wanted me to do, but not what my direct boss wanted me to do. Simply put I made sure changes went through in a week or less with proper authorization. Instead of bouncing them through the system. I then get demoted being told I shouldnt have done that and that i have a hygiene problem - Im upset but the job pays ok - I shower every morning - but obviously that and clean clothes isnt enough - I go and buy stinky cheap cologne and leave the cap off every day. I get more hygiene complaints - this is beginning to upset me. I explained what I do and why its a load a hooey. So they stopped that tactic of every day saying my hygiene was defective. Then as soon as they started on my quotas the client cancelled quotas - I was beginning to sense they wanted to fire me. Regretfully I had this wild urge to actually help other people - so other people would come to my cubicle and ask me questions - and I answered them - I got a warning for that - since I hadnt left my cubicle or stopped working. But they got me on my lunch half hour - You would sign out from your phone go eat in their vending machine place, and then head back. Problem is people would ask me questions on the way back - so I would be consistently late signing back in - but I made sure I answered the questions in front of the boss. The boss denied ever seeing me doing that and so because I took extra lunch time they fired me.

I have another story of demotion - I was working at an amusement park as a semi-boss - The policy was that there was supposed to be at least 2 people opening or anywhere up to 4 bosses opening the section of the park. I had been doing it by myself for over a week. But I didnt know my Asst Manager had filled my file with false complaints. So I got taken and asked why I wasnt doing my job. I said that I was doing the best I could with only me opening 10-11 different locations in the park, and having to handle staff and money. They said but thats your job - and refused to listen to my explanations so I got demoted to normal staff level - it then followed within 2 weeks they had promoted or hired 5 people to replace me.

I got fired from a $0.90/hour bus-boy job - half my fault, half the boss' fault. After working all summer with a set work schedule, I had made plans to be in a friend's wedding on my only day off. The day before the wedding, the boss changed the work schedule and when I explained my predicament, she said "be at work tomorrow or you're fired." Some of the waitresses took up my cause and I was allowed to be "off" if I found someone "qualified" to take my place. I called in a bus-boy they'd fired the week before (hey, he was qualified). When I got home from the wedding my Mom told me I'd been fired. The next day, the owner called and offered me my job back. The manager never did talk to me again; the kitchen staff and wait staff relayed messages!

As a former foreman, I've fired a few, too. I fired one man for sexual harassment the first day he showed for work. I fired another for taking a joy-ride on a fork lift and tearing out a wall full of battery chargers. His mother and brother also worked for me; they weren't happy - - with him.

I got fired from two jobs.

The first was the best thing that happened to me, as I was a high school grad that wanted to stay out late and try to work the next day. I would get up late and come in to work late. Being wore out from running the night before my work was not what it should have been. One day the foreman handed me two checks and kindly explained why I was let go. At the time I was devastated, but today as I look back I can only say thank you. From this experience I learned a valuable work ethic. Take care of your job and you may kkep it, neglect you job and lose it.

The second time I was fired was because of a disagreement between me amd the manager. There was bad winter storm and he wanted me to take a very unreliable vehilce out in the storm, after a rather heated discussion I went. Yes, the piece of junk truck broke down, I called the manager threatening to quit . He came and picked me up, not a word was said all the way back to the shop. The next pay day he told me not to come back. Oh well, sometimes we need to keep our mouths shut and do as we are told. [IMG]

In 2001 I was let go by my firm shortly after the events of 9/11. Business had dropped off, and as the most recently hired employee I was shown the door. Not long after I found another job in the same field, but it still bothers me that I was fired. I hope it never happens again.

I was fired from a job i had worked at for 8 years and it was a painful experience but , i deserved it. I worked at a sandwich chain, as a shift manager, then assistant for 5 years, was quite the hot shot, won sandwich making contests and recognized for exceptional service. then I was given a store to run as head manager, which i did successfully for a year, my stores sales and profits were always going up. I was one of the companys prize employees, very hard working and devoted to my job.....

Then i was moved into the corporate training dept opening new stores and training managers. I did a lot of traveling , gone at least half the time on the road, staying in hotels, working 80+ hour weeks. It was a lot of pressure, but I was good at it and would probably be working for them still if I hadnt started using methamphetamines. This one guy and I had a very tumultuous relationship, and he supplied me with the dope. I soon became a dope :( and missed some important meetings. My bosses asked me if I was on drugs and I lied and said i wasnt.

They stopped putting me on openings, putting me to work in company stores, and i kept using and basically missed more important shifts. My boss called me into his office and said to bring my keys and pager. I knew i was getting fired, and i know it was hard for him to to tell me i was termed , i was a good employee before the drugs got in the way. I cried all the way home. That was the straw that i knew i had a drug problem and shortly after that, i moved far away (from CA to HI) and managed to get off the drugs. This was in 1997 and i havent touched that evil stuff since. Meth truly turns people into monsters, it s a horrible drug and i am so thankful to God that I was able to get off them before they killed me.

My career has not recovered altohugh i have been an at home stepmother for the last 3 years so that also has set me back career wise. I am so confused as to what i should do now. When i moved to HI i worked as an Asst mgr at a pizza place, then moved again, to Oregon to be with my husband. I worked 2 jobs there, one was a great job at a credit union. I had to quit that job after nearly a year becasue we moved back to CA. Now i dont know what do do, i dont want to work nights and weekends, i cant with my family responsibilities. I have been doing temp work, they keep calling me back for 2 days, 4 days, that sort of thing. I am afraid to commit to any job right now because if my husband gets back to work (he has been out due to a work injury, thats another long story) then someone has to take care of the children. Im not quite 30, have no college, and now i have my husbands kids to think about and care for.....Its hard...... But i know, thing s will work out......
