Maybe the Rangers could have used some angels in some of those years, especially from 2000 -2002, when they finished in the cellar for each of those years, and after which, because of injuries, Rusty Greer retired, ya' think?

In a bit of trivia, I did find Rusty to be compared with Zeke Bonura in one comparison. No doubt this is a somewhat unfair comparison, for Greer was a pretty good fielder, whose hustle and aggressiveness allowed him to get to some balls, that some others would have never even reached, resulting in being charged with some more errors, than he might otherwise have had, and still, he had pretty good stats as a fielder.

Ol' Zeke, on the other hand, was probably the worst fielding player in baseball history at first base where he played, even worse than the oft-mentioned duo of "Marvelous Marv" Throneberry, and "Dr. Strangeglove", Dick Stuart.
All three of which were penciled into the lineup card for their bats, without question.

Zeke didn't make that many errors, on paper, but that is because he often never even got the glove on a ball that could go by two or three feet away, or even through his legs, as Zeke waved at it, without making any contact, whatsoever.

A humerous quote from one of Zeke's managers: He once said he benched Zeke, because the ballpark the game was in did not fit Zeke's style.
A reporter asked: "His hitting style?"
The manager replied, "No, his fielding style!"

P.S. End of derail! [IMG] [IMG]

Now back to our regularly scheduled program on angels that did not play in California baseball uniforms.

there I go, screwing up a joke!

Rusty played for Texas. Never got to see him play.

That's what my failing memory gets me!

(Rusty was in my youth group in Albertville in 1989-90).

You missed a hardcore ball player. He is a true baseball guy. No flash, nothing that separated him from the team. I real good ball player.

Yeah, when he played HS ball he went all out.

I watched him hit a CF fence one time chasing a ball (which he caught) and when he hit, I thought, "No way he gets up."

Not only did he get up, but he threw the ball in, and they nailed the guy at the plate trying to tag up from 2nd on the sac fly.

I heard from some Albertville buddies not too long back that he's really banged up from all his big-league injuries. I hope they don't hurt him too much in his post-baseball days.

    sorry for the hijack.

That's kind of low...considering she is about to pass away any day now from cancer.

She's down to 62 pounds...she has colon cancer. She stopped all treatment for this in May.

Sorry, I knew from somewhere she had cancer, but did not know it was this advanced, by any means.

Well, minus the cancer, pre-cancer Tammy Faye, I agree with av1611jim on this one.

What is low about that statement? Just because someone has cancer and you comment on their appearance before hand and their behavoir, it has nothing to do with the cancer itself or her suffering. I did not mention one thing about her current appearance, I mentioned what she has looked like up until now, which is pretty freakish and some what disturbing, similar to Jan Crouch.

won't get you invited to our Wednesday, early morning Bible studies either.

Making fun of someone's personal appearance...and likening their physical features to that of a demon is VERY unbecoming of a professing believer. Who cares what she looks like, or how she wears her makeup?

If you haven't noticed, I live a couple miles from you, so I wasn't exactly planning on attending your Bible study. The fact you wouldn't invite another brother in Christ speaks volumes...

You crack me up. Besides the fact that I was joking around, I am sorry if I found humor in the original comment that was made concerning Tammy Faye Baker. I did not realize that me likening her appearance unto a demon was really going to upset you. Or agreeing with it for that matter. You might want to quit taking things so seriously, you have a serious issue with me for some odd reason. [Personal attack removed]

I just figured it goes along with the little theme you helped develop. You don't want to attend my church, so I figured you didn't want to attend our Wednesday morning worship service either.

You're right. A church that doesn't enjoy worshipping God is not for me...
