I apologize for not spending more time down here.

My wife and I are headed to Mexico early tomorrow morning for a week of Deaf camp and we solicit your prayers for God's blessing, protection and fulness.

We will return late Saturday night.

Thank you in advance for your prayers.

Wow! I'm praying that you will be blessed greatly by the Spirit and that your time will be fruitful for eternity. I also pray that you and your wife will have some special time together and grow even closer. :) That's always a bonus. :wavey:

    Follow-up:

Had a good camp. Attendance was much better than last year. Last year we planned for a larger group but due to circumstances beyond our control many parents would not let their kids come. This year we had many kids.

My wife and I spent many hours counseling with the deaf. Just so you understand, the deaf do not have a pastor down there. They have a deaf ministry with interpreters but no deaf leaders to whom they can go and talk about their troubles. So we spend the majority of our time listening to their troubles and giving them counsel from God's Word. We count this a precious joy.

Safety: there was one tiny incident with the Mexican military that was a little scary in the beginning but turned out to be nothing more than a case of the nerves on our parts. Other than that we felt perfectly safe at all times.

We also held a board meeting for the Christian School for the Deaf there and made several decisions concerning the future. We are working on a "2020" plan, a seven-year plan that will take us from where we are now to the year 2020. There is so much more ministry to be done and so many more Deaf who need the hope that Jesus gives.

God willing, we will return again for camp next year. If you know any deaf people who would be interested in a missions trip tell them to contact me. All of our work is conducted in both ASL and LSM (Mexican Sign Language).
