    Heaven....What Will It Be Like???

:saint: I am interested in what you folks believe heaven will be like? I have heard very little teaching on this topic, and understand that that is probably due to no one really knowing for sure.

    Still....most of you
:1_grouphug: probably have an idea of what Heaven may be like, so I'd love to hear from you who have a scriptural/personal picture of heaven.

Thanks for your feedback....hopefully I can gain some insight from those on the BB who have a mental or spiritual picture of Heaven in your heart.

    Shalom,

    Pastor Paul

Well, this question reminds me of a song we used to sing in chapel when I was young:

    Heaven is...a wonderful place
    Full of...glory and grace
I'm gonna see my Savior's face
    Heaven is a wonderful place
I wanna be there... (then repeat the song)

LOL - I don't know much other than we will worship the Lord and we will see Him face to face. How much more do I need?

When I think of heaven I think of being with the Lord in the physical sense, looking into His eyes and being able to touch Him and hear His voice.
I think of how wonderful it will be to never sin again, to never suffer it's consequences and grieve my Lord and Savior.
I think of a beautiful place where God's creation hasn't been marred by the curse of sin. Where animals run free and are my friends and nature is so beautiful and unspoiled.
I think of a place where there is always joy, love and laughter. Where there is no pain, no sickness, and no loss or sadness.

A place where the glory of the Lord shines as bright as the sun and I can praise and worship Him purely and eternally.

Sounds kind of corny I guess, but that's what I think about.

Imagine the world as it is without any sin, death, pain, suffering, hunger and theocratic in nature where we will live eternally with our Redeemer.

If my feeble, finite mind could imagine it, it would not be near glorious enough to be the place where Jesus resides.

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him" (1 Cor. 2:9)

Some like to say that this doesn't refer to Heaven, but when you realize that it is a quote from Is. 64:4 which is talking about the Second Coming, I think it can easily be applied to Heaven. So we know little about it, except that, as has already been said, there will be no sin, pain, sickness, sadness, failure, loneliness, bitterness, war, hate, hunger, imperfection.

And best of all, "We shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is!"

Well, I am with JoJ with this one but will add that it will be a place of rejoicing and singing a new song, "I have been redeemed, both soul and body". I do not believe it will be here though, I think it will be where Jesus went away to.

When Jesus was talking about heaven with the thief on the cross, He called it "paradise".

I agree that 1 Cor. 2:9 is a verse applicable to heaven so we haven't even begun to imagine it.

There's an old tradition that Lazarus never smiled again after Jesus brought him back to life after being dead for 4 days. Pretty sure that's just some ancient pastor's illustration, but it might be close to the truth.

    1 Corth 2:
10: But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
11: For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

We sing a song and if in the Spirit, is true.

"I can almost see Heaven, from here".

I'm with John here. However I'll go a step further. It will start with a wedding and will be a forever Honeymoon. Not as we equate the honeymoon but beyond and better than that. Jesus the Groom will reveal all that there is about Himself. Remember what the last chapter of John said?

    John 21:25
25And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

There is just so much more to know and that is why I see heaven like a wedding night.:jesus:

Since God will be giving us a New Heaven and New Earth, how many believe we will live in heaven for eternity? How many believe we will inhabit the New Earth for eternity?

Or how many believe we will be able to come and go.... back and forth between the two?

Earth was created for us. New Earth will be created for us where God will live with man together. New Earth will be similar to earth pre-sin, IMO. We see glimpses of it in it's perfect state now in beautiful sun sets, mountains, flowers, blue skies. It will be even more glorious and magnified than we can imagine.

I'll get to meet and hug two people I've never gotten to meet physically:

    1) Jesus
    2) My daughter, Michal

For an excellent study on Heaven check out Randy Alcorn's book Heaven.

Our church is using it for a study on Sunday nights.

I would agree with the things webdog has talked about in this thread.

Heaven is where our Lord is. I cannot even imagine it. Even my greatest imagination of it wouldn't do it justice. And when we do see Him, we are all gonna' fall on our faces like John did.

And I'll get to see those who have gone before. I want to see my daughter again and I want to talk with her. I want to worship the Lord with her like I do with my wife and with my son here in this life.
