Recently there has been discussions at various time in my Bible Study Group about Heavenly relationships, and as usually there is a lot of "opinions". I really don't have one but have been searching for an answer to questions like, will I be able to ask my grandfather whom I never saw about family members or ask Jonah what it was like in the belly of a big fish. Will we recognize family members as family or will we only have platonic relationships as Christian Brothers and Sisters. Give Scripture ref.please as I have heard a number of opinions.

I'm afraid opinions are all that are available. Not enough text to definitively make a argument either way. I always say, " I will most likely have my face at His feet for so long I won't know who's there besides me".::smilewinkgrin:

Matthew 17 King James Version (KJV)

17 And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him.

4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

They knew it was Moses and Elijah at the transfiguration,

    It is a spiritual body,
44 It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body

    rev21
4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful

Yes, there was a recognition of who these figures were/are, but we have to also understand the changes awaiting us. Remember that we are trying to comprehend the glorious and incorruptible while still wearing the guise of the reprehensible and corruptible. So much will, of necessity, change for us as we are changed from mortal to immortal. Our understanding will change. As Paul wrote, we see through a glass darkly. Our view on this side is dimmed and unclear. But on that side, we will have all the clarity we lacked on this side.

Per my understanding of this scripture, we will have a new name that is our alone as given by God. If this reading of this scripture is accurate, then the argument exists that we will have new names on the other side, signifying the truth of our new birth in Christ.

If we will reconize each other, what are the chances that people I die owing money will come and ask me why I didn't pay them?
