    Just for discussion purposes:

Let's presume Hitler is in hell (I would use someone like Ted Bundy or Jeffery Dahmer, but they proclaimed conversion prior to their deaths) and so someone who has done nothing but good all their life, but not accpeted Christ as their savior.

Does this "good guy" suffer the same punishment as Hitler or are their punishments on different levels depending on what they did why alive. Meaning, is Hitler's punishment far worse or are they suffering the same amount?

Death and hell shall be delevored up and cast into the lake of fire. I don't thank there be any worse of a punishment then that for anyone. Burn forever and ever.

Then why are they judged according to their works...
They are already condemned to the Lake of Fire for the sin of unbelief..
Why would God Judge them for their works?

I believe there are degrees of punishment for the sinner, as there are different rewards for the believer...

But in reality, does it really matter..
After all Hell/lake of fire is HELL! no matter how you slice it.

Seperation from God would be pure torture.

I am not sure about this.
One other thing to consider is sin from God's view.
Which is worse: a pagan in some place that never hears the gospel or a person who grows up in Church and does "good" all of his life but never truly repents of his sin?

The first guy may have been worse in our eyes but how much worse is it to hear the gospel over and over and continually reject it?

Just one more thing to consider:
Remember that when people are judged by their works and go to hell, they are getting what they deserve.
Anyone who is judged by their own works will go to hell. THey will all get the same punishment.
Just like all of us would get.
But thankfully we will be judged with Christ's imputed righteousness.

Punishments and positive rewards are on different levels...

"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation." - Matthew 23:14

"Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 5:19

...Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, a US President or two...they're going to have it bad.

Mat 13:12 "For whoever has, to him {more} shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be taken away from him.
Mat 25:29 "For to everyone who has, {more} shall be given, and he will have an abundance; but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.

Why is it worse on "that day" for Capernaum than for Sodom and Gomorrah?

I think maybe there is bad hell and worse hell....
