    Hiya Tim,

I saw this video a week or so ago and thought it was funny. This church has put out several other videos too that I thought were good.

I like the one where they are surrounding the water cooler.

The sad thing is that I had visited a well known church and went to Sunday School. The teacher had asked what a Christian was. There were many answers about what signs should probably accompany a Christian. After I heard about 20 answers I finally told them that a Christian was simply a follower of Jesus Christ. Sometimes people get so caught up in things but fail to keep in mind the main point of the Christian life.

Is it the same one in your previous post?
Thats more like it. The others say theres just one type of christian, or 'Christ follower', and if you aren't him, your the wrong kind, you aren't
    serious about Christ.

I'm glad you got it. I liked that video much better. The other was humorous at first, but . . .

I don't like youtube because of the other things that you see when you go there.

The first thing I saw when I clicked on the video (right underneath the video screen) was this comment.

There is no God...Atheism is the path to the truth!

I thought the video was mocking Christians as well...

I have "Net Nanny" since my g/son uses my computer for school research and I had to override Net Nanny to get to youtube...

I had the impression that the video was a video depicting a certain sect of Christianity.

It reminded me of when I was in high schol and one of the students in a class I took always came to class with a Bible in hand and wore a shirt and tie. Never once did I ever hear him say anything about the gospel or if Christ ever changed his life. He mostly kept to himself. When one of the students asked him if he wanted to be a preacher he said that he did. At the time and even now I could not tell you if he was a Christian and if Christ had changed his life. I never heard him discuss anything he believed. It is sad that so many think that if they do certain things people around them will come to Christ and be saved. I cannot even cite one verse in scripture where God ever chose to introduce people to the claims of Christ and what a changed life produces in word and deed. Even Jesus did not give out the gospel in deed only. For someone to say they just live the Christian life only is to claim things that Christ did not.

Too me, it was just funny...
I don't think it is mocking Christians, but Phariseical Christians...
Which are not Christ like anyway.
We all know those among us that wears their Christianity on their sleeve, but fail to live it in their life...

To be a Christian is to be a Christ follower...
It is not about the Bible you carry... the disciples didn't...
It is not about your suit and tie... The disciples didn't have special "Sunday-go-to-meetin" clothes...
It is not about the WWJD bracelets you wear....
It is not about the bumper stickers on the car...
It is not about how much head knowledge you have...or how many books or degrees you have... it is about a right heart...
    It is about following Christ...

I like the other video better too bitsy...I just liked this one because it is a spoof of a current advertisement.

They've got some great videos - I LOVE the one for small group shopping. I think we'll use that for our next small group leader's meeting.

I just think that they're incredibly creative - and show that it's not doing all the "right" things that make you a good Christian - but your life with the Lord.

this is what a pharisee looks like
    dressed neat
    study books
    bible
    bumper sticker(s)
Those people exsist, But how do we know this guy doesn't live it?
So the suit guy was a Christ follower if he was a christian,, then theres no seperation in the two then, yet the video calls for a seperation.
The disciples didn't what, carry a bible, so does that mean it isn't necessary? Your a pharisee if you do? (your own words, not mine)

So, wearing a suit and tie makes one a pharisee, less of a follower of Jesus then the guy who doesn't care if he's at least neat or not?

No it's not, but having them does not make one a pharisee. Or less of a christian/Christ follower.

Aren't christians supose to study and learn? We can throw that out now, thats pharisees only.
And if you wear a suit and tie, carry a bible, have a bumper sticker, and actually study that bible, then your a pharisee? Your not a Christ follower?
Yep, people who dress neat, and study the bible.

and then theres the ending 'christian no more'

    Donna,
I think you are missing the point...
The suit guy could have been a real good Christian.
Of course nothing the suit guy was wearing or doing made him a pharisee...
His heart would... no matter what his outside appearance was.

The point of the video, is we need to look past appearances, and get to the heart.

But how many times have the "suits" looked down on other Christians because they didn't dress up for church, or look a certain way...

Just think, I am sure you remember all those threads even here on BB that discuss how Christians dress...

Usually it is the dressed down guy that gets dumped on in Christendom.
If he went to a lot of churches, he would be told to dress up.
And his heart could be right... but those churches will never know, because they can't get past his clothes...
What about a Christian guy wearing an earing.
    Longer hair?

See what I mean.. it is the "suits" that equate spirituality with clothes.

This simply shows that you can be a Christian without traditional church stuff...

Tim, I was addressing what you said about the video, not the video itself. You called the suit guy and others like him pharisees,

so whose the pharisee in the video whose being mocked? The video makers are saying if you look like this guy, neat, bible, bible studies, and even a bumper sticker, then theres something wrong with you,, now you assume, he's and others like him are pharisees. Without knowing anything about his heart.
But we assume the other guy, who doesn't have a bible or a bible study is a better christian whith a good christian heart. What is all this based one? Looks. If you look right, your a good Christ following christian, and if not, well, your only a mear christian, and not a good one either. Just like you complained about people who judged people wearing simple clothes as not being good christians, or would be asked to leave, based on appearance, you have equally judged the mere 'christain' in the video and others like him as being pharisees.
It works both ways you know, this judgement thing.
