My computer for no reason won't detect them now. It did it with the printer and I said oh well, still used the scanner and it was fine, now it won't detect the scanner either. :( It says it's installed, but when I go to open it it says it can't be detected.

Have you been trying to reinstall the printer lately? Sometimes a conflict develops when you experiment with ports and such.

Go to Start-Settings-Control Panel-System- and click the Device Manager tab. Look for the printer and scanner and see if you see a yellow ! (exclamation point)---if so, there's a conflict.

More to follow after you try that.

Neither are listed. Do you have to have a printer to run the scanner? I deleted the printer. [IMG] The scanner files are there, but it doesn't list them in that section (device manager) now.

Gina...make sure you are plugged in. Sometimes a bad connection in back can be the problem. Uninstall the two programs. Then re-install them. Just deleting them will not remove them. You need to uninstall them.

If you have updated your computer to a newer windows such as XP, you may need to download the new driver devices for them. That could be another reason they are not being recognized.

I did uninstall the printer, now I have to get get the cd to reinstall it. :(
I guess you really can't run the scanner without the printer? That's so dumb. :(

Gina, u can have a scanner w/o a printer. Have you tried to reboot your computer yet? If so u may just have to actually go into the files to find your scanner, in other words the icon may not be working.
The scanner just works like a copier, it copies photos, anything really onto your harddrive first and then it would print the item from the harddrive, not directly from the scanner.
I see u r in ohio, I'm in N.C. or else I would talk u thru it over the phone, if u wanted me to.

first of all did u delete the printer or remove it?
If u deleted it, then go into your recycle bin and tell it no, that u want it restored and then reboot.
If u removed it, then u must reinstall it with the cd.
The scanner u should be able to find if u go down to "start" then control panel. There u should see your scanner file. If u can pull it up, u should see either a .exe file or something that says setup. try one of these.

I removed the printer. I just found the cd (yay) and reinstalled it, but it still says it can't find the scanner, so I'm going to reboot and try it again.
You could always pm or e-mail your number and I can call you instead if it doesn't work Christine. [IMG]
