Can anyone suggest good songs with movements for 4-5 year olds? I already have them doing "Deep and Wide" and "I'm in the Lord's Army" and "If you're Happy and you know it" - are there others?

Do you know of web sites where songs like this can be found?

    Help!

Here are the words for a few that spring to mind - the actions can easily be imagined, but I am not sure how I can post the tunes. If anyone can tell me how to do it, I will gladly do so:

    "Only a boy called David"

    Only a boy called David, only a little sling;
    Only a boy called David, but he could pray and sing;
    Only a boy called David, only a rippling brook;
Only a boy called David, and five little stones he took.
One little stone went into the sling,
And the sling went round and round,
One little stone went into the sling,
And the sling went round and round,
And round and round and round and round
    And round and round and round;
One little stone went up in the air,
And the giant came tumbling down!

"The Ravens' Wings went Flap Flap Flap"

The ravens’ wings went flap, flap, flap
As down to the water they flew,
They brought Elijah bread and meat
As God had told them to.
For drink, the water from the brook
    Kept raging thirst away.
He trusted God to care for him,
    Just as we can today!

"Up and Down, Up and Down"

Up and down, up and down
On the waters of River Nile,
Up and down, up and down
The cradle was rocked for a while.
    By and by, Moses cried,
Just as loud as all babies can,
And a lovely princess took him for her own
    Until he became a man.

"The Wise Man Built His House Upon the Rock"

    1. The wise man built his house upon the rock,
The wise man built his house upon the rock,
The wise man built his house upon the rock,
And the rains came a-tumbling down!
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
And the house upon the rock stood firm.

    2. The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
The foolish man built his house upon the sand,
And the rains came a-tumbling down!
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
The rains came down and the floods came up,
And the house upon the sand fell flat!

"I am the Way the Truth and the Life, That's what Jesus said"

I am the Way, the Truth and the Life,
    That’s what Jesus said.
I am the Way, the Truth and the Life,
    That’s what Jesus said.
Without the Way there is no going,
Without the Truth there is no knowing.
Without the Life, there is no living,
I am the Way, the Truth and the Life,
    That’s what Jesus said.

    Bro Lamb, perhaps chord charts?

Saggy, thank you for "Father Abraham" - I didn't know that one, but my daughter does, so now I DO know it.

"Jesus Loves Me This I Know"

    Also,
    I am a C
    I am a C-H
    I am a C-H-R-I-S-T-I-A-N

    And I have C-H-R-I-S-T in my H-E-A-R-T
    and I will live E-T-E-R-N-A-L-L-Y
(the kids spell out the bold words)

    Love,

    Sopranette

OOps! Live is also spelled out, L-I-V-E. A little bit of a tongue twister for me, but the kids seem to catch on fast!

Thanks for your suggestion. I'm afraid I didn't explain myself properly - my problem is not with the musical notation itself - I could provide melody, chords for guitar, piano accompaniment . . . or even a full orchestral score if I had the time :) What I am not sure about is how to post these on the Baptist Board. I know we can send attachments, but posting rule 12 says:

    12. Limit image size. Any image used in a post may not exceed the size of the BB logo at the top of the homepage.

I suppose I could try to write out the whole thing as text, like this (I'm using the American names for notes, i.e. ½ note, ¼ note, etc, rather than minim, crotchet, and so on that we use here, so I hope I'm doing it correctly. For pitch, I am using the letter-names of the notes, with notes from middle C to the B above being represented simply by the appropriate letter, notes in the next octave up as "C1", "D1" "E1", etc. and notes in the octave below middle C as "B-1," "A-1", "G-1" etc.):

"Only a boy called David" (Key: F major Time Signature: 4/4)

    ¼..⅛ ⅛..¼...¼....¼..¾
    F...F..F...F.....F......F..A
    Only a boy called David

    ¼.⅛ ⅛ .¼.¼.1
    F..F..F.G.A...C
    Only a little sling

Let me know if that would be any use - it might take a while to do, but I don't mind if it is helpful.

send me a PM, and I will give you my e-mail address. I never post it openly....spammers get addresses that way.

Thank you all!!! I do appreciate the help! 4-5 yr olds have to be kept busy, and I am doing music with them for 20 minutes in VBS, which feels like an eternity if I don't have enough stuff prepared.

I should have thought of that myself! :) I'll do it later today, hopefully.
