Way to go, vermae. way to go.

You got it right, too, about the "greed to build better churches".

Corrupt man tends to measure his "godliness" and "obdedience" and all that with how many numbers made "professions of faith", or "submitted to baptism", or how much was the offering for this Sunday. Numbers, numbers, numbers.

Look what numbers did to David, too.

    PREACH THE WORD !!!!

That was the charge during ordination, that is the ONLY charge in the Bible.

    PREACH THE WORD !!!

Paul didn't say preach the word and make sure your numbers are all up.

If there were just my wife and I on Sunday in church, I will preach the word of God, as soon as it's time to do so.

If there were five people or five thousand people in church on Sunday, let us preach the word of God!!

Hiphop church to attract the hiphop crowd ?

The hiphop crowd can stay where they are, thank you.

Us four and no more, eh?

I am glad Jesus didn't say this... aren't you?

Without knowing more about this church we are all passing unrighteous judgment.

We don't know all the facts...

Can you say that the word of God is not being preached there?
If so.. how do you know?

Hip hop is not for me.. but to tell the hiphop crowd to stay where they are is not what God would want me to do..

    I support blended worship...
We should all be able to come together and worship God... in whatever style we want.

In our church, we have everything from Ralph Stanley to Toby Mac...
    And people WORSHIP God.

It is called respect for others...

In Heaven, there will be all types... might as well get used to it now.

Some of these arguments, are the same arguments I have heard Churches use that don't believe in using instruments, just acapella. So I guess If your arguments are correct, than we can conclude that Churches that use acapella only are more Godly. They have taken your standards to a further degree of honor with less influence from the worlds music, You see you can't have it both ways. You don't get to set that line as to exactly what it the appropriate music or not for others.

One (of many) of the reasons I chose the Church we attend is the traditional hymns. I don't like modern praise style of music, and I know I would hate hip hop music in my church. But I look at it as a choice. I don't find scripture that speaks to style of music. If it would turn out the lyrics were bad, then I would agree, but I don't see where any of us know that.

Nobody addressed my earlier point about churches in other countries. I have seen videos of mission churches, that had much different styles of music, but they still seemed to be very Godly Churches, just adapted towards their culture. Now is that wrong? I mean if there is just one biblical standard, as many have suggested, it wouldn't be confined to borders? How would you condone mission started Churches allowing for local culture to influence the service? Do you take that stand when a missionary visits your Church? If not are you not being hypocritical?

OK, Pinoy... this is your cue to tell us how we should just rely on God to draw people to him.. and we should not try to win souls....

    Just jokin brother...

You see, we have been down this road many, many times in the past.
And when you know people on this board, you can anticipate how they will respond....

Archeryaddict, stick around and you will see what I am talking about...
This thread is about to take a sharp turn towards Calvanism/armenianism....

Ah, you ruined the whole effect. Now we don't have to wait for the end of the book.

I think the Calvinist did it... :applause: :applause:

    "Cultural neutrality" is not possible.

The only church that likely acheives this is the Roman Catholic church.

Our culture is always going to color what we do.

An inner-city church is not going to look like a rural Alabama congregation. Won't sound like them either.

The important thing is whether or not God is being honored.

every country has it's own type of music.Where did hip hop come from?It was born in sin and for us to take it and bring it into our churches is just wrong. So many killings and other crimes have been associated with this junk.To replace Jesus name with "hoe ,crack. b-th and all that other filth is just wrong. We are to up hold the name of Jesus and not bring it down to the level some money grubbers are trying to do.People have reasons for what they do,Some of it is not of God.Case in point. Most singers get their start in church than they go out into the world to make money. These Hip hop people are just using the church to further their own carreers and we are letting them.Shame on us.:tear:

I thought evil was immaterial. How can something immaterial have an appearance?

Another instance where the KJV translators got it wrong.

A church that uses worldly values to attract a worldly crowd will also preach a worldly message. The preachers that allow hip-hop will preach messages that are not offensive to the hip-hoppers. They will tickle their ears with a watered-down gospel.

Evil takes shape and form, evil has a face, a message, and an agenda. Evil is produced by satan.

So then we tell people "Don't come to my church, we're not like you"? We don't dance and hop around, so just find yourself a church more in line with your culture.

You don't have to tell them anything, they will know it, and let me say that for the most part, they will respect the rules, and respect the church, and probably listen to the message with more respect. Those who are God's, will come back, again and again, still wearing their hiphop clothes, still walking their hiphop walk, and still talking their hiphop talk, and guess what, in due time, which is God's time, things will happen.

And nobody had to compromise anything.

It would help to define "worldly" the way the Bible does...sinful. Substitute the correct meaning in your post, and it is full of holes. The church is not supposed to use "sinful" values to attract a "sinful" crowd, by preaching a "sinful" message. Culture is not sinful. Would you go to Japan teaching a Mexican culture? Of course not. We are trying to reach out to a "worldly" world, though.

You are also unfairly passing judgement on the message, without even knowing what they would preach! You may call it "watered down", but I believe the Bible uses "milked down".

Music itself does not manifest evil? Music in and of itself does not represent evil? Music itself in some forms and fashions are not satanic in message and meaning, even without lyrics?

NO, the term is definitely watered down... to a weaker message.

The preacher who will allow hip-hop will water down his message so as not to offend a hip-hopper.

He will not preach that the indecent way they wear their clothes is against what the Bible teaches for fear of losing them from the congregation.

He will not preach a message to come out of the worldly ways and values and be separate unto the Lord for fear of them leaving the congregation and his numbers looking bad.

He will not preach the full counsel of God but will tickle their ears and tell them what they want to hear.

His may think they are fully doing God's Will, but are in all actually, a lukewarm church.

    SGW,

it can be used for evil... that is evident. It is evil for people who claim to know God's will to take a stand for things that God's Word condemns... but they do it all the time.
