It is incredibly hypocritical to accuse one or the other of exploitation of 9/11. The President wants to make us aware of the threat that is very real. Trying to down play the threat by accusing the President of exploitation is irresponsible.

The cigarette companies down played the dangers of nicotene addiction and overall helath risks. They were taken to court and found guilty of doing this and in effect they were held accountable for failing to make the risks and danger known.

The president is making them known but he is accused of scare tactics because he does so. He is accused of allowing the attacks and accused of scare tactics.

Cant have it both ways. The 9/11 widows are using theor husbands deaths to gain influence and effect change in a situation they dont agree with. Is this not the same type of action.

John Walsh has been driven and used his sons death to promote child protections. Would this be the same type pf exploitation. After all it drives us to fear and to be aware of the threat against our children.

The op is sanctimonious garbage. For the President to do anything less would be the real tragedy. And the do nothing libs would love to get rid of the knowledge of this threat.

Odd though, that as the elections loom, and the republicans appear to be in trouble, Bush feels the need to "warn" us about the danger more and more.

It would take a man of considerable character and honesty not to try to take advantage of the situation.

And no one has accused Bush of having considerable character and honesty.

Complete mischaracterization of our President. He has been solid and unmoving on the threat of terrorism. It is fals that he has never been accused of considerable character and honesty just because the libs want to destroy him.

And it is false that he is acting in any way different than he has through out his Presidency with regards to terrorism or its threat on this country. You know it, the country knows it, the world knows it. But for libs to try and have it both ways is not surprising. good job!

There have been what? 15 or more major terrorist attacks since the 10th of September 2001? 3 per year? 2 in Spain. Is it 4 in England. Was it one in France? The WTC here. 4 in SE Asia . . . Saudi Arabia. How many in Russia? [Yemen was before] A couple of embassies have been attacked . . . and a couple more burned - but they don't want to call those attacks of violence 'terror attacks'.

If you are so quick to forget the terror around us, then maybe he does 'need' to remind you.

Remember that as the elections loom . . . there is still a threat out there. I pray that if the democrats took over, that they would not forget that.

But, I will vote against abortion. That has killed more Americans than all of our wars to protect freedom.

    IMHO that is.

Yeah, but isn't it interesting that Bush is waving the bloody shirt just as elections loom?

What bothers me, is Bush forgot where it was coming from, and got us stuck in a no-win war in Iraq, instead. If he had focused on terrorists, instead of Saddam, we'd have won by now in Afghanistan. Instead, he let the Taliban regroup and attack us again.
