History of postal rates in the US

    Interestingly, going by the first year that the 3 cent rate was applied to one ounce letters, the adjusted rate today should be about 50 cents. So we're actually paying less today for mailing a letter than we were when the rate was first implimented.

    I think the post office does a great job in getting a first class letter 3000 miles for less than 50 cents. When I was a kid a real city had 2 deliveries a day. With the decrease in first class mail I support the elimination of Saturday delivery.

    US not founded as a Christian nation

    November "Smithsonian" has an essay, "God and Country" which documents the early religious history of the US. George Washington and Madison as well as Jefferson promoted equal standing for Jews and Muslims.
