Remember when it cost 3 cents to mail a letter?
What year was that?
Interestingly, going by the first year that the 3 cent rate was applied to one ounce letters, the adjusted rate today should be about 50 cents. So we're actually paying less today for mailing a letter than we were when the rate was first implimented.
That was very interesting, Salty. Thanks for sharing.
I think the post office does a great job in getting a first class letter 3000 miles for less than 50 cents. When I was a kid a real city had 2 deliveries a day. With the decrease in first class mail I support the elimination of Saturday delivery.
Did I hear they are talking about raising postage again?
Be sure to buy your stamps now before they go up in price!
and be sure to ask for the "FOREVER STAMPS"
