I read a lot. Seems to be my biggest out let lately especially during the winter and early spring. I play the piano and croak out a song or two.
do a little wood working in the summer.

Haven't been able to play much for years, but back in language school I enjoyed getting trounced regularly, playing with the Chinese students at lunch hour. [IMG]

I also enjoyed playing ping-pong with the asian students (mostly Koreans) at SBTS.

It's a big sport over here like it is in China and I'm sure Korea. All the Japanese schools have teams, and national and international tourneys are shown on TV.

My hobbies include amateur radio / scanning and cycling.

Cycling is superior to all other hobbies because, if my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, I want it to be the best "in shape" temple around. :tongue3:

Amateur radio / police scanning; just because.

    :)

Well, what a thread, no arguing yet, let me see, ping-pong stinks, chess is for time wasters and horse riding is even more wasteful of your time and un-Biblical. How's that for ruining a thread :)

I have collected stamps for years, all are still just collected in boxes. I specialize in Irish stamps.

I have refinished furniture picked up at garage sales but can't anymore cuz the house is filled to overflowing and lots of it has been given away - don't know how many priceless antiques I have turned into waste.

Love hunting and fishing but haven't in years.

Guess my only active hobby is irritating people on the Baptist board :)

I do enjoy writing but hate editing so have a lot of writing done that needs editing :) Guess that is my most active hobby, collecting editable material.

I think it is absolutely fine for Christians to have hobbies, as long as they don't contraindicated the Biblical teaching (gambling, i. e.) As the above commenters mentioned, we are meant to enjoy life! Plus, hobbies can be used as an extra opportunity to glorify the Lord and to share the Word with more people. Of course, the general rule applies: All thing are lawful into me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. 1 Cor, 6:12.
    Here are my hobbies:
    1. Shooting sport. I shoot 0.22 pistol competitively, and last year made it to the top ten in my state. Plus I shoot whatever shots, but I am especially fond of large-caliber pistols: my dream gun is .50 Desert Eagle.
    2. Helping animals and people. I am a certified veterinary technician and a student nurse, and I volunteer in the non-profit animal hospital and in the hospice. I also run my own charity project in Nicaragua and travel to other countries as a volunteer.
    3. Crafts. Knitting, crochetting, needle work. Too bad I don't have enough time for it!

I fired a Desert Eagle once with my brother-in-law who owned it. Man that thing is powerful--and loud! Birds fell from the sky, trees fell over, a nearby car had to restart its engine and the clouds started to rain, thinking they had heard thunder!

My stamp collection has evolved into a first day cover collection. I started collecting in 1960. Also, it is not really a hobby, but I do buy silver and gold bullion in place of a savings account at times.
