This is another one that got me: "One member says, “Marijuana has less calories and no one leaves drunk!” The weed may have less calories, but the snacks probably do not. Then there is the buzz... *laugh*

To take pleasure in any manner of the flesh, especially that which would pervert the senses and intellect, be it from the fine arts, the athletic endeavors, or some other satisfaction of some appetite of the flesh is wrong.

Why isn't the modern church understanding of the terms and conditions in which the NT presents? We are not just to die daily to the large intentions of the enemy to derail, but even those small areas such as lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, pride of life.

Would that I would meet a believer who not only knew the Scriptures, but knew the walk. Recognized that the suffering and sorrows, the purposed denials of the flesh are but a small payment, barely worthy of counting toward that wonderful awaiting. Understanding that life offers nothing to be proud about, either in the living out or even in the perseverance of the life. But that the believer is to be His workmanship, and that ALL done is to be recognized as mere service to the King, not worthy of any reward. To live is Christ, to die is gain.

According to the State of Colorado it is a legal substance to use, so why can't they use it. I'm sure the actually think they are closer to God when partaking.

Why should man even think of saying that something that God created is bad?

    Are you saying that
God made something that was bad? Poison Ivy has some uses, smoking it is not one that I am aware of.

No, I'm not saying God made something bad...that's silly. I'm not saying that we should smoke any kind of weed.

I suppose my reply initially should have been a bit more to the point. According to the Federal Government (and the State of Colorado), marriage is not necessarily between people of opposite gender. Unless God created marriage bad..... Your's was a poor argument. It would have been better to distinguish between doing something to God's glory and as to the flesh, or maybe even fit this into the alcohol issue (those who would not oppose alcohol in Colorado have no basis for opposing weed...etc.). But saying it's legal and God made it is not a very good argument. My "poison ivy" comment was just a quip to let you know without spelling it out.

    God created mosquitoes, too.

More to the point, the Bible does not encourage intoxication as a means of spiritual enlightenment.

"Newest member JeTaun Brown says reading the Bible stoned enables people to relax and focus. She says, 'I think you have a deeper thought process which makes you better understand.'"

Well, no. Read Paul's admonitions to the Corinthians about those who would take the Lord's Supper drunk.

I suppose one drag of a joint might be the equivalent of a sip of wine from the Lord's Supper if wine is used, but I don't think that's the point of these practitioners.

Intoxication can lead to great insights — which disappear when the substance wears off.

That's a good point. The benefits of intoxication getting us "closer to God" or as a means of spiritual enlightenment is pagan.

So it is. It seems that Delphi — home of the famous oracles — was situated over a crack in the earth that allowed noxious gases to escape, which intoxicated the holy ones. The priests, of course, were eager to interpret the unintelligible utterances — for a price or for political advantage. (Not unheard of; Balaam comes to mind.)

Even the wicked for the day of evil.

OK guys, I was only trying to be sarcastic with my post.

I do not think it should be legal, and definitely is not going to lead to a better relationship with God.

The folks who are truly helped by its use as a medicine I don't have a problem with. It does seem that most of the so called medical marijuana patients just use it as a cover to smoke it without any real medical need.
