Ken, you're starting to sound just like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Samuel Adams. How un-American.

Hey, poncho, I am even more mad at the government in Little Rock. Today was the first time that I needed to buy an over-the-counter cold medicine since the idiots in the Arkansas legislature passed a law against the law abiding people of the state of Arkansas by placing cold medicines that don't require a prescription behind the counter. I felt like I was having to sign for receiving a banned substance instead of a legal, non-prescription drug.

Feeling a bit like a criminal eh? Good, that's exactly how you're suppose to feel in a free society, isn't it?

Yea, like you were actually going to support him in the first place.

You will only be happy while America is involved in a war with someone regardless of who dies, of course it won't be you, will it?

Yeah, I felt like I should have been wearing an orange jumpsuit. I prefer the old stripes myself. :)

That may be your belief, but that is not constitutional, as you should know. For all your talk about the constitution, you seem only to agree with it when it fits your politics. The constitution did not give military decisions to the American people.

Furthermore, as much as I hate it, the republic form of government is not democracy by proxy. We don't send our reps to Washington to vote in our place for what we would vote for.

That's strange since the majority of Americans have never been asked. You have no way of knowing what they believe. You know only what a thousand here or there have been asked.

Umm...perhaps the part that gives their representatives in Congress the power to declare war?

Doesn't it give you, like, a shudder of electricity... to be in the same room with me?

I never said it did. The federal constitution does give the policy making authority to the Congress and the executive authority to the president.

In business terms the Congress can be compared to the board of directors and the president to the chief executive officer. The chief executive officer carries out the plans and the direction the company is to head as set forth by the board of directors.

Of course not. The fact that representatives can vote to declare war does not mean that military decisions are in the hands of the American public. At least you presented as a question rather than making a statement. That helps prevent your from looking uninformed.

Sorry, Pastor Larry, but I don't buy into the idea that the president has dictatorial powers - even in a time of conflict.

Good. I am glad that we don't disagree on that. I have a hard time understanding why you bring it up though, since I have not seen anyone who thinks that he does.
