I just finished watching the two "Horatio Hornblower" movies that I taped on A&E earlier this month. They are absolutely wonderful. They remind a lot of the original Star Trek series, just set on the sea instead of in space.

Unfortunately, my VCR is broken and I missed a good deal of the latest release.

I love the series. Much better than Star Trek, I think. There is that same sense of discovery, but none of the cheesiness. You can almost smell the salt air.

But I'm still wondering why the sailors in Hornblower insist on wearing shoes ...

There is a set of 4 Hornblower movies available on DVD, I am not sure if it was released on VHS or not.

I have enjoyed watching them on A&E, but I am pretty cheap and DVD box sets are kind of expensive.

I didn't see the first six movies so I went to A&E's website and ordered all 8 DVDs. I think these will make great viewing year after year; and I hope they make some
    more. [IMG]
