In the areas of Bible/theology, and Apologetics below are a few books to read. I challenge everyone here to read these books in addition to reading the Bible. The books here help illuminate the truth and will help you be the salt and the light in our world.

    Who are you to Judge

A church that has made its peace with the world can no longer affect it! As 21st century Christians, we have settled down to a complacent form of faith that demands very little of us, and thus makes very little impact on the world. When secular values infiltrate the church, we accept them without a twinge of conscience and congratulate ourselves on our tolerance. We believe that we no longer have the right to challenge secular trends and decisions, in or out of the church. Erwin Lutzer looks at today's world, and confronts us with our responsibility, as believers in the church of Jesus Christ, to again be a force for what is right...not easy.

    Our Sufficiency in Christ

Christ's divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness. —2 Peter 1:3

Pure Christianity needs no embellishment whatsoever. We find complete sufficiency in Christ and His provision for our needs.

But too many Christians have bought in to the notion that all the spiritual resources we gain at the moment of salvation are not adequate to meet the real needs in today's complex world. So they look for something more—an emotionally exciting and self-edifying experience not found in God's Word. This failure to understand the sufficiency of Christ has opened the door to all kinds of worldy influences, causing many modern believers to mix biblical truths with seemingly helpful man-made methods such as mysticism and psychology. As a result, they wallow in a watered-down, pseudo-Christanity that has been drained of its vitality, effectiveness, and security.

In this book John MacArthur exposes the main ways Christians have displaced their spiritual resources and explains how to avoid making the same error. It will make you newly aware of how completely God provides—and give you a renewed understanding of what it means to be "complete in Christ."

    The Truth War

Right now, Truth is under attack, and much is at stake. Christians are caught in the crossfire of alternative Christian histories, emerging faulty texts, and a cultural push to eliminate absolute Truth altogether. As a result, many churches and Christians have been deceived. Worse still, they propagate the deception that poses itself as Truth! In The Truth War John MacArthur reclaims the unwavering certainty of God's Truth and anchors Christians in the eternal, immovable promises that are found in His Word.

    Set Apart

"The church must be distinct from the world to reach theworld."
    - From Chapter 1

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, apeople for [God's] own possession, that you may proclaim theexcellencies of him who called you out of darkness into hismarvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9, ESV).

Holy and dedicated to declaring the excellencies of God-this isthe church, or is it? Can we really call the church holy?

A minority of those who claim to be born again say they believein moral absolutes (Source: Barna Research).

I never Thought I'd See the Day

Is Western civilization in an accelerating decline? And if it continues will it eventually weaken and cause us to come to the end of cultured civilization as we now know it? "Yes," says David Jeremiah, and in his book, I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SEE THE DAY! he details numerous signs of this cultural decay including:

    America held hostage by Iran
    Marriage becoming obsolete
    Creeping socialism
    The invisibility of culture's enemies
    Increase in "spiritual warfare"
America turning its back on Israel
    Atheist attack on religion
Can this downward spiral be reversed? Yes, but only if one person at a time returns to God with our heart, our manner of life, our dedication to genuine worship of God, in serving God by helping others, in our giving, and in prayer.

I was also going to recommend David Well No Place For truth, but I have not read it (I own it) so cant comment.
