I was looking through hotel lists and prices in New York as I hope to somehow let the kids visit there one more time before we move too far away, but their uncle's place is too small for us to stay there if we go.

I was looking through a list of them at hotels.com and found this one.
    http://www.thealexhotel.com/

It was listed as $690 a night.

Now, what I found even more amusing was the photo of what must be a meal since it's on a table, on a plate, and being uncovered from a silver top.
    BUT WHAT IS IT?
If you're paying $690 a night, wouldn't you expect your dinner to take up a little more room on the plate?! :D

So what are your hotel experiences? What was the best one, the worst one?

One amusing story...I got a call about 2 years ago asking me to be the greeter/cashier for a photography company that would be in town for a few days, but I needed to be there in an hour. They had a hotel room rented and the customers would come there to give me their info and pay the sitting fee.
I gave my babysitter the hotel name and room number so she'd know where I was if anything happened. My then husband didn't know I was going, so when he got home the babysitter said "she said she's working". Then she gave him the hotel name and room number.
He got there REAL fast, wanting an explanation of why I was there. Thankfully it was obvious before he got to me.

Mine, too, Saggy. We stayed at a nice hotel several years back, though it is no longer in existance, and it cost us $128 a night. It was something on the order of the Opryland Hotel, but it was far less glamourous, and the room service was terrible. If you wanted extra towels or an extra pillow, there was a $20 charge added to the bill until they could verify that all was still there. You could check out without verification, as long as you signed a waiver stating that you would be charged for any missing towels and pillows, etc. We only stayed 2 nights, and had to call our attorneys to have them contact the hotel to get a refund on the "pillow deposit". Some people.
