"In times like these" written in 1944 could probsably be a good themesong for our current times. My question is this: In times like these how can we as Cchristians and baptists in particular experience a closer walk with the Lord and a greater influence on our lost friends and associates?

Interesting question, Collins. By the way, welcome to the Baptist Board! [IMG]

Can war be avoided? I wonder. What would happen if Christians all over the world prayed for God to take care of Saddam Hussain and his regime in whatever way He sees fit so those who are oppressed will be free?

What would happen if Christians all over the world prayed for the enemies of the Lord God Jehovah to be confounded?

And I wonder, how many times have the terrorist enemies been confounded here in America and other places when their planned terror attacks came to naught - but we don't even know about it?

But we do know that sometimes God uses His people to physically destroy the enemy, too, or nations to destroy evildoers, as in Hitler and WW2.

The song, "In Times Like These" is one of my favorites.

I don't know why God hasn't allowed America to be destroyed because our land is so polluted with wickedness (3500 unborn babies a day murdered), unless it's because of those of His people who are standing fast, standing in the gap, repenting for our national sins, seeking forgiveness and changes, praying, and believing and trusting God for whatever happens.

He has always had His remnant of those who are salt & light in the midst of darkness and evil. And we need to trust Him now more than ever, IMO.

A young Chinese Christian girl was about to be executed. She said to her captors: I am dying for a good reason. What, are you living for?

It cost her life to be a Christian during the Boxer Rebellion, but she did say it all, didn't she?

When people do less talking and more walking, then will we see the resultant change in society.

    Cheers,

    Jim

How can revival coincide with war? When times are hard and it seems that darkness is closing in everywhere, that is when people begin to look for answers that are greater than themselves. Throughout history massive amounts of people have turned to God thereby breaking out in revival during times of war. A good example is the revival that occurred in the Confederate Army during the U.S. Civil War. There is a great book about this entitled Christ in the Camp. Praise the Lord, God is sovereign. I agree with Sheeagle we must pray, repent of our sins and the sins of our nation, and trust God. If God choses to use the U.S. and other nations to remove the threat of S. H. from Iraq then so be it.
