How can the Arizona Immigration law be racial profiling when "illegal immigrant" isn't a race?

How can the Arizona Immigration law be racial profiling when "Mexican" isn't a race?

Are you admitting this law is aimed at one particular group of people?

It can't but the demcoms need a distraction from the poor job numbers, deficite, and their ramming the healthcare bill no one wants down our throats.

    No.

Others have said that it is racial profiling against Mexicans.

I am asking how can this be racial profiling?

Edited - I change my mind. Yes, this law is aimed at one particular group - illegal immigrants.

Yes, because Arizona borders Mexico not China.

If ONE officer suspects a Hispanic from Arizona of being here illegally, but doesn't at the same time suspect a redneck from Arizona of being here illegally, it is racial profiling....

Who do you think is going to be affected by this law.. Hispanics, or white people who drive ford pickup trucks?

IF one legal Hispanic is stopped and asked for identification to only check to see if they are here legally, it is racial profiling...

IF the police look at a person's skin color or listen to their accent to make a decision on who to ask if they are here illegally, it is racial profiling.

Airport security almost never pulls me aside for a indepth check of my carryon bag. My wife is often, over half the time, pulled aside. We have wondered why and finally decided that if someone accuses the TSA of profiling they can point at her and say, "How can you say that. Look there is an elderly white lady being checked." Amost always the others being checked are mid-eastern in appearance or African American.

I think profiling goes on all the time, but there are tricks to try to cover it.

Hispanics fall unders most races. some are black, some are white, some are native american or a mixture of all the above. However, since I have dark skin (olive complexion) black hair and brown eyes and If I'm driving a ford pick up truck do you think I'll get stopped on suspicion? Even though I served this country in two engagements, I continue to serve in government, have been educated to a graduate level in American Universities. Have payed taxes regularily for the past 25 years? I have participated in our democratic system and am registered as a republican since I was of voting age?
I probably would. And the LEO would be more than happy to demand Papers of me.

Yeah LEO's never play the system. If they can get away with something they will. I've worked with LEO's and understand they're not always kosher.

Okay - a Bank gets robbed. A witness says the robber was a white male 6'3" tall missing his right arm.

Do you think the cops will be looking for:

    A. A female (if not than its sexist profiling)
    B. A short person (if not its height profiling)
    C. A person with 2 arms (if not its (some kind of ) profiling.

Here are the facts. The vast majority of illegals in Arizona are from Mexico. Isn't it only logical to concentrate on that group? - Oh thats right liberals do not use common sense.

Evidently you Libs think that LEO's would give a pass to an illegal Asian, Canadian, Frenchman aliens.

First of all I'm conservative so you know where you can put the liberal remark. Secondly there are illegal canadians, Englishmen, Frenchmen in the United States and they aren't profiled. However, I, a US citizen from Birth, because I have Olive colored skin, black hair and brown eyes would be if I was driving down the road in a pick up truck in Arizona.

    That's an odd comment.

So if a law enforcement officer can get away with stealing he will?

If a law enforcement officer can get away with fraud he will?

If a law enforcement officer can get away with murder he will?

Or do you mean - if a law enforcement officer can get away with racial profiling he will?

If so - why just that one thing?

Are law enforcement officers inherently racist?

Some I know are racist. Others are not. Look LEOs are just like anyone else. Anything to make their Job easier they are glad to comply. So profiling makes their job easier they will be glad to do it. If they can get away with arresting someone without the paper work they will. If they can discard my rights as a us Citizen to get enough information to arrest me they will. Lets say there was a burglary down the street. They have a witness that says a dirty mexican did it. I happen to be the only "mexican" looking person walking down the street even though I'm not. Not be able to search me as they would like because of lack of probable cause they can simply say they have reasonable suspicion I'm illegal and request my papers like the ghestapo. If my papers are cleared they can say I falsified documents which gave them probable cause to conduct a search and if they don't find anything they'll let me go with a warning satisfied I'm not their guy but in the mean time my rights have been violated. If I for some reason forgot my documents I can be locked up.

    You offered a bad example.

If a witness gives a description of the suspect it is not racial profiling to question persons meeting the description.

You imaginary example also reads as though the police would not be concerned about the burglary but are more interested in finding illegal Mexicans.

Your continued obsession with your imagined persecution by the police because of the color of your skin - which is what "olive?" as you say - is beginning to concern me.

I advise you to let this go and read some Scriptures.

Everything is going to be ok.

When I hear someone making generalizations about "people" in general - I usually take it as an admission about themselves.

IOW - someone who claims to know what "all people" are like is basing it on themselves because that really is the only person that one can truly know.

I see that your profile lists your occupation as auditor.

When you say, "Anything to make their job easier they are glad to comply." are you admitting that when something doesn't balance then you just "plug it"?

If you don't short cut your job what makes you think that police officers do?

I've lived in SC, Georgia, and TN. I've seen some bad examples of LEOs and profiling. Which is why I left the bible belt to begin with. Next. you didn't follow my example. the idea was if I was their only suspect they can use the illegal immigration law to supstantiate a search they were previoulsy unable to perform because of lack of probable cause. That is a violation of my rights and a abuse of the Law but as long as they can articulate in such a way as not to seem bad they can get away with it. Olive is dark skin but not black. Like mexican, middleeasterners, etc... I had a doctor (OBGYN) tell my white wife because she has a hispanic last name during her last pregnancy that he was explaining to her the need to use birth controls because hispanics always have large families and that wasn't a good idea to have a large one. The thing is I have four kids a decent job and we're not on welfare and we have health insurance. Where does this doctor get off unless its racist. I bet your wife never had to deal with that.
