Ahh yes, theodicy is a very deep subject that we can not fully understand in this life. We would not know black was black without white to compare. Without sin, we would not know the holiness of God.
God in His wisdom created all the matter for everything that is in existence. Did God manufacture an automobile? He in fact created the material, but allowed man to manufacture the auto. He put everything in motion to allow men to manufacture sin, so that His perfection and holiness would be so evident. The potential for sin existed, but sin itself was not in existence until satan and man chose to bring it into existence. Now you have the perfect explanation for theodicy. [IMG]

Yes but.... Christian men recognise that when they create something, it was God that gave them the ability to create it. So therefore, God gets the glory. Can't say the same for sin....Can't say.."Hope God gets the glory for this here sin"

This is one of those subjects that seem to make sense before you fail to explain it. Would God be satisfied to receive back only what He created? I don't believe so, although it is higher knowledge than I can attain. But let me begin here.

People have said that we would only be puppets on strings if God did not allow free will. Love of God would mean nothing more than Him looking in a mirror. So, love requires free will.

If love requires free will, then any choice man makes is not controlled by God. So the choice to sin in a feedom man imposes on the world without God's help. How could we rebel against God without the freedom to sin? Does this help?

It was too late to do justice to the subject I started last night, so I want to continue.

Is the origin of sin in the free will of man and Satan beforehand? I have been arguing from that premise and so have many theologians before us. For example, I heard many in the conference room chuckle when I asked author/theologian J. I. Packer how he reconciled the sovereignty of God with the free will of man. We seldom forget our embarrassing moments. For positions for and against this view, please go to:

    Another one I found........

Well does Spurgeon say: "In reference to the matter of predestination and free will, I have often heard men ask, ‘How do you make them agree?’ I think there is another question just as difficult to solve. ‘How do you make them differ?’ The two may be as easily made to concur as to clash. It seems to me a problem which cannot be stated, and a subject that needs no solution!" (Sermons, Vol. 13, p. 31). [see URL below.]
