You know this question brings up another interesting question. But we will ignore the question of whether God's Word is actually 100% true or not (I believe it is) and move on to this: if it is then authoritative how can you be sure that the conclusion you come to from the Word of God is authoritative. And also how can the "urgings" I feel be verified as something God wants me to do and not just my own desires.

I am not trying to restate the question but move it past "what do you think is the best way to preach." I think the question is valid too, because I see much talking about how you know you have received some truth from God when some kind of supernatural feeling comes over you. I am not exactly sure how that crowd says it but I think it is something like that. I would maintain that the only way we can verify the leading of the Spirit is through the Word. And not just one verse out of context. I believe that you would have to have a good interpretation of the passage according to the principles of interpretation.

The question I rise then is what verification is there for those who would say that God has spoken to them but do not use the Word to verify that?

I know I've received a word from God when I hear that little voice telling me that what I am doing is right. God told me to put my entire past behind me and start over. A new life I have started! I've forgotten all my horrible past and am looking forward to the future! :D

How can you know if you've received a word from the Lord? If you mean from the Bible, then every time you open it, as stated.

But do you mean for something going on in your life? He speaks in a still, small Voice. (not the busyness of your own racing mind, not the palpitations of your own anxious heart)

His Will, will be confirmed by Scripture, and perhaps by one or two other people who will mention something about the very same thing on your heart (even though you've told no one but the Lord), or by circumstances developing, doors opening and doors shutting, one way or another. Just ask Him. Then believe & step out in faith. Then trust. Then obey. And you will have PEACE if you are heading in the right direction. [IMG]

Is that what you were asking about? [IMG]

Hello everyone, how are you all doing? I just wanted to put my 2 cents in here.
I do Communion Meditation once every 2 months or so and I always freak my Husband out because I do not plan one way ahead of time. Most often it is the Saturday Night before or Sunday morning! The reason being is that God does so many FANTASTIC works in my life that if I try to write ahead I end up having to choose a topic out of 100 things!LOL [IMG] It just seems like there are so many wonderful things that I use the one that seems to have affected me the most in recent days or even 5 min before the Meditation.
God is good!!!!! Love in Christ Angieinstlouie [IMG]
