Through their obstructionism the GOP has brought about what they desired least, empowering a president. What the GOP has accomplished is the empowerment of Obama and now the lesson of future presidents is that government can be moved forward or backward without the help of Congress. In the final analysis the GOP has weakened congress and increased the power of the president.

Yeah, and the Democrat Party was empowered last November also. What empowers Obama is the color of his skin.

Using an article from MSNBC to show how the GOP failed is like using an article from FoxNews to show how the Democrats failed. It's inherently biased.

There is an old saying that applies here:

    "Power is taken, not given."

The GOP didn't 'give' Obama power on immigration, on climate change, or on Cuba. He took it.

Wouldn't Congress have actually given Presidents the authority to make these Executive Orders?

If the GOP doesn't like what he's doing, they should just rescind that power by legislation. They won't though because they know that on the off chance in the next 100 years that there is another Republican President, they will want that President to have the ability to do the same things that Barack Obama is doing.

And there lies the crux of the problem. It isn't a matter of what party controls the White House in the future, it is a problem of what a president in the future, regardless of party, may do.

Nature abhors a vacuum. Where there is a vacuum something will move in to fill it. The GOP created a vacuum and Obama moved to fill it ... just the opposite of what they wanted.

It's crazy. There's so much animosity against anything this President does. But it still seems to be the case that the more the people in God's church dishonor and disrespect him, the more he seems to do just the opposite of what they want.

Repentance and sincere prayer would go a long way in God healing this land.

Holding politicians accountable for violating the law (constitution) would go a long way in healing this land.

That might bring political reconciliation, but it's not gonna heal the land. Holding politicians accountable for breaking God's law and leading them to repentance and/or a saving grace in Jesus Christ will go a long way in healing the land.

But getting them to do it just for politics sake isn't going to do much if anything other than create a vacuum for the next person to do what they were doing.

We have to set after the hearts.

Okay nevermind then. Let the crimes continue.

We'll just keep blaming the other side for everything. That's been working real well so far.

I'm speaking from a Christ-centric perspective, not a political one. If you don't change the person and their heart, it's not going to matter because someone else will replace them.

If Christians are serious about changing behavior, then we must do it with the Holy Spirit.

Perhaps it's been working that way because both sides have been approaching things from a political perspective instead of a spiritual one.

By your reasoning then we shouldn't put murderers behind bars because someone else will just replace them.

Where in the Bible does it say Christians are to try to change people's behavior?

If Christians were serious about changing behavior maybe we should start with ourselves.

That's not my reasoning. I didn't say don't hold them responsible for what they have done. I'm just saying that if you want to really affect change in society, it has to be done in the spirit and not in the flesh.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matthew 28:19-20

Absolutely. But just as you train up a child and you disciple others, those who are more mature in the faith and obedience are to disciple others into spiritual growth so that they too may continue to become more like Christ and less like their old selves.

Apparently crabby and a few other extremists did not get the memo. The obstructionist ideology is over.

Doesn't seem to be working out very well for you on Baptist Board.

That only works when those making disciples actually know what Jesus taught. There seems to be some confusion about all that. Example, people will tell you turn the cheek as if Jesus was teaching us to be subservient to evil.

During Jesus time on earth Roman law and Jewish tradition made turning the other cheek an act of defiance. He said be wise as serpents but today we're ignorant of much of what He was teaching because we take His words out of their historical context and try to apply it to our laws and traditions today.

Those who are more mature in the faith know better than to try and force their will on others in the name of God.

    Just sayin.

Doesn't mean that what I've said is incorrect just because people still don't obey.

Is it possible to make Biblical disciples without knowing what Jesus taught? Verse 20 says and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you

You can't teach them those things unless you know them.

Those who are mature in the faith know that it ain't about our will being done but that Jesus's will be done.:flower:

The new creation, if it really is new, should be about aligning itself with the will of Christ, not other people and not political positions.

People don't obey you huh? That's a pity.

Why don't today's preachers know these things? Are they being taught by the Holy Spirit or other people?

Matthew 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Would you say this country is falling into a ditch?

I've read your posts Zaac. It sounds more like you've been pushing your own will in God's name. Wonder what Jesus is going to say about that?

And to do that we have to align our will with your's and stop taking part in the republican form of government God gave us.

    Yeah I get it Zaac.

Obama deserves to be in prison but nothing can be done because of his race. If Hillary tries what Obama has done, she will be thrown out for senility.
