Good for the Dad. That kid needs to learn a lesson, and so do many other snotty brats who have their worlds handed to them and feel that way towards their parents. Entitlement is the problem.

Fortunately here we don't have any of the worries, concerns or drama that comes with being on facebook. People flip out when they hear we aren't on there. "Everybodies on there!" Um, no, they're not.

There is also the freedom people experience when they've decided to drop their accounts and live in the real world.

I hear all the drama, talk, worry, issues that others have being on there, people asking "What would you do over this facebook situation...?" It's ridiculous to have that much concern over a 'page' on the internet. One man recently killed a couple on facebook for unfriending his daughter, I think over in TN. That's the extreme of concern over it, but any concern over it at all is ridiculous and is a problem created by getting on there in the first place.

    - Peace

The child clearly has little love and no respect for her father. There is no doubt that the reason is because of how she was raised. His disrespectful manner of disciplining her gives evidence as to why she so disrespects him. If he thinks he is going to correct her attitude with the behavior he has shown he is a bigger fool then his daughter who thinks she can act like she does and get away with it with little or no life long consequences. Both father and daughter are headed for deeper disaster in their relationship one with the other as well as in their personal lives.
It is too bad that he does not know how to be an adult and a man because she is now suffering from it and she will now grow into an adult that will handle life as a child, spoilt, selfish, and immature as she lives a self centered life of unhappiness.
Hopefully they both will get saved and have their lives changed before she brings another generation of the same or worse into the world.

I give the man a lot of credit for taking his anger out on an object rather than physically taking it out on his daughter.

It's evident that he cares for her and that they've been trying to teach her responsibility. ie the chores list. Minor inconveniences compared to daily chores on a working farm. (The way I grew up.) I'm not saying her parents were perfect. No set of parents is perfect. But, I see many instances of parenting today that's so much worse. Just taking a trip to the grocery store has examples of spoiled rotten kids who rule the roost.

I read the comments on the link. Didn't keep tally, but it appears that most of the posters approved of the fathers discipline in some manner. Some of the others even condemed the man for litering his own backyard. (Appeared to be where this happened.)

In closing a question, if ya'll don't mind. How does shooting a laptop equate to a man not being saved? How can anyone make a judgement call like that based on how little we actually know this man?

I can't see youtube at work, but I have DirecTV at home, so I'm guessing that's what you're talking about.

    Kind of funny.

Unfortunately, teaching a child respect starts in the cradle and something went wrong back then. Even my 9 year old understands the value of "things" and does not expect that things will be handed to her. All my kids have chores, know the value of a dollar, know how hard their father and I work to have money for food and shelter and while at times they are disappointed about not having something, they understand. Yes, my older girls have cars that were given to them but for the privilege of having a car, they pay every penny of insurance, repairs, upkeep and gas. A child who is so disrespectful and entitled, something was wrong in her upbringing.

What is it about a father that gets so angry that he needs to publicly act out with a hand gun? That guy needs counseling..... I think he will get it when the resident states Children & Family Council Department gets wind of this. He will be toast.

I doubt it. I think they will applaud him as well. :)

I think the reason to go public is because his daughter went public but hid it from him.

I can't rightly say that this Dad failed at discipline somewhere along the line, because we don't know that and to say it is assuming. I can see a lot of care in this guy for his girl, and a lot of frustration at the same time. I won't use this time to shine a light upon my rearing of children in contrast and comparison, and use this as a time to tell about how great things are with them. It's not necessary, I don't need validation, nor would doing so prove this Dad didn't raise her right.

However, I know of a few families that have raised their children right, with discipline, respect, courtesy and more, and they have grown up with a sense of appreciation, gratitude and responsibility. Yet within these same families there was a child who rebelled and reacted in this same manner as this girl, while the others were honoring to their parents, obedient &c. All of them were raised the same, some turned out responsible, another rebelled and disrespected their parents. It doesn't mean that the parents didn't raise them right.

Did Dad lose his cool? Yep. We all have, probably not to that extent though. God probably has it all on video as well. :love2:

He was foolish to put the video online. I can see authorities acting upon this, even to the extent he has to pay restitution to his daughter for the laptop, which he bought for her and gave to her as a gift.

I don't agree with his methods, but I do agree in taking her laptop away, just not via a handgun. Way over the top.

Listening to the video it sounds as if his daughter has rebelled time and again, and that they've had several incidents with her behavior. She has what other kids suffer from these days, the sense of entitlement.

As a former pastor once said: "Some parents of GOLD have children of LEAD and some parents of LEAD have children of GOLD."

I would be very reluctant to judge a parent(s) on nothing more than the way a child turns out!

His actions prove he has not raised her properly. She is acting out what she sees in him.

No, his actions don't prove that, as much as you want them to. Your judgment is amiss.

The only things his actions prove is that he's had enough and that he can hit a computer at 8 feet.

    She told you that, eh?

I don't think so. What we are seeing is what she has been raised under. Her actions are a result of his life actions.
