Obama says that he wants a middle class tax cut.

If he means it, why wait until he is elected?

He could tell the Congress to pass an immediate middle class tax cut today.

A Democrat controlled Congress should be willing to do it.

    The Republicans shouldn't oppose it.

    Why not just do it?

I have this same question with just about everything any of the candidates say they're going to do when elected. If it's that important, why not try to get it done while they're in Congress?

If the Republicans were to introduce legislation today for a middle class tax cut, the dems would oppose it. Why? Because a republican led administration would get credit for something good. They would rather delay any meaningful legislation until they are in office. In other words, their own political future is more important than actually serving the needs of the people.

    Partisan politics as usual.

Nothing will be accomplished until after the election. Remember this is an election year and the most important issue for politicians is that they be re-elected. Even if the Senate does move on an issue the House will not as all the House of Representatives are up for re-election ... except for those retiring. Those folk have only one thing on their minds and it is not tax legislation.

And that's the same reason Obama couldn't spearhead a middle class tax cut now. It would be a positive for him and the Republicans would block it.

Why not give it a whirl? Think of the propaganda value should the congress pass a tax cut and the current POTUS vetoed it!
    WOW!!!

In other words, surely you don't believe what you wrote -- do you???
