    My top Spiritual Gifts are:

    Prophecy
    Evangelism
    Discernment
    Exhortation
    Teaching

In a university setting its easier to employee all my gifts given the nature of the environment and also the MANY student run extension ministries. Presently I am only employing my evangelism and prophecy gifts given the nature of street evangelism. Sometimes I get to teach at my church, however there are not many opportunities for this, and since I am not gifted with children the opportunities are only when there is a opening for teaching adults. It was different when I was at BJU as there was LOTS of opportunities at churches and ministries to teach.

Perhaps I need to listen to Charles sermons on these topics again.

Anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks..

One small point... Evangelism is not a gift, it is a command of God to obey. You cannot find evangelism listed as one of the gifts. The office of an Evangelist is listed as a gift to the Church, just as the apostle, prophet, and pastor-teacher (shepard-teacher).

Thus evangelism is not a gift nor should it ever be considered such.

I would see it as being there are those called to the position of an Evangelist, as they are gifted by the Lord in that office to "get results", but that we are all called to be witnesses for jesus!

Not going to comment on the individuals listed in the thread, but I think the best way to use your spiritual gifts is to know what your strengths are. The only way to know what they are is to get out there in the world and serve the Lord. The Holy Spirit, Who resides in each of us, should make that clear in short order. The ones that we are weak in can be strengthened by experience and following His lead.

They are all truly gifts. Without the Lord, I could do nothing for Him.

I have heard that teaching however these spiritual gift tests all list it as one. It also may be hard to define it, as many associate results with "giftedness" when results are up to God.

Wait a minute..... God brings the converts and calls people to salvation. You cant say because someone does not get results then they are not gifted.

What do you consider your strongest gifts, weakest gifts and why? Do you agree that the only way to strengthen your weak gifts is to use them at the direction of the Holy Spirit?

What is listed above are my strengths, however the only MAJOR PROBLEM is that the church I am in is so small its hard utilizing my gifts. It was much easier at BJU. I hit the streets and confront people about their eternal destiny which is my gift and something I do out of obedience. I cant boast about "results" but I can boast about getting the word out and being obedient and faithful.

Yes I have the gift of prophecy. I have preached in nursing homes and other places many times.

Probably prophecy, & evangelism. Its hard using them in my church given the size. It was easier to do so at BJU with lots more opportunities.

Lots of Way of the Master evangelists are always witnessing, but most are tentmakers and not paid to be evangelists. Few can boast about much results. Does this mean they are not gifted evangelists?

let me give a bit of advise (take it or leave it) but spiritual gift tests do not tell you what 'gift' you have, they tell what it could potentially be. A great many also list on them the gift of an apostle, and healings, a word of knowledge (as in the TBN style) etc.. just because someone lists it as a gift does not make it a gifting or a correct understanding of it. I know a church that has a spiritual gift testing and they have on it, math, gardening, carpentry, and other such non-sense.

From scripture I no gift of 'pastoring', nor 'apostling', though interstingly enough there is the gift of prophesy :) The gifts regarding pastoring are not a single gift (gift of Pastor) but varied gifts that effectually work in and through the office of the Pastor, and the same with that of an apostle. Paul stated that he does not bring people to the knowledge of Christ through crafty words, etc.. but by the power of God. If evangelism is a gift, it one that brings people to Christ how?? through the 'right words'??? (just a question) Paul never states nor alludes to any such gifting, even though he, himself, was the catalyst for many many conversions and churches begun. If anyone had such a gifting it surely would have been him and he would have surely mentioned it, if not in the list(s) of gifts but in his own letters regarding him or others. - just saying

I agree the evangelist is gifted in such a way that he stirs up the people to note their lostness, or the Church to note their laziness. It is a two edged sword they seem to wield and one the Church needs more now than ever before.

    I Wonder?

Not everyone has the gift of Evangelism, which is preaching the Word, but all have been called to "witness!"

The following link is a good one in clarifying the difference between the two! SEE:http://www.gobible.org/bible/60.php

And then ther's this - http://www.wor.org/Books/e/Evanwitn1.htm#God Makes Witnesses

That is my opinion and view. I may be wrong, but there seems to be a huge difference between doing what Christ said in Matthew 28, and the idea of a gift of evangelism!

While I realize it is your opinion, all I can say regarding those two sites above is 'wow'. I don't see how anyone could biblically agree with either of those 2 sites in trying to show witnessing and evangelism are 2 different things. I mean I understand that they believe they are, I just don't see that they 'biblically' are.

While I will not, at this time, get into a point for point with either of those 2 sites, I did notice with both sites that neither could actually keep the two (witnessing and evangelism) separate. By the time they get through their works, they are stating, at the end of their articles, that witnessing has essentially the very same definition they gave for evangelsim in the beginning of the article (they had merely placed both definitions together for witnessing)

The second link however is really odd ball link in which it tries to state that scripture does not emphasize sharing our faith so niether should the church but to focus on growth in Christ and overcoming sin. It is a sin NOT to share our faith (which includes the gospel message) and in NOT doing so there is no overcoming of sin nor growth if we do not obey Christ's command to - Go and Tell. I will digress as 3 am is to early .. lol :D

Again, all I can say is "Wow".

Its a good thing the tests I have taken have avoided the sign gifts and ridiculous assumptions like "math", "carpentry" or "music" being spiritual gifts.

I disagree. Lots of Way of the Master evangelists hit the streets and few can boast about lots of "results" but all are faithful that God will bring the converts. Some are FT evangelists, while most are tentmakers. Does this mean we do not have the gift of evangelism?
