Your conversation was good. You are planting seeds. You are not looking for a quick change of heart, because these guy and gals are trained from birth to have faith in "the church" even when they are confronted with extrodonary evidence that they are wrong.

The only thing I have for you is for you to be aware that your definitions of words are very different then theirs.

Saved means something to you and something totally different to him. You do good at first to say exalted that would be the high level of mormon heaven. And to him to get that you have to do works. But then you say "saved" and he agrees that it is by faith with out works. To him saved is the lowest level of heaven. To him you are saved without doing anything (as long as you are not totaly evil) and once saved you can work on improving your rank, to become exalted to the highest level of heaven.

Most of your definitions will hold different meanings to him. So you have to be carefull to use his definitions or nail him down on the meaning.

    Good thread and timely also.

I have a teen girl attending our Thursday night bible studies who is Morman. I have been told that her Mom wants to "Talk" to me about our doctrine. I am really looking forward to the meeting. Pray that the Lord guide me in my discussions with her.

The most important question when dealing with someone like a Mormon or JW is "What do you mean by that?" or "How would you define ______?" because oftentimes, we're talking of two totally different things.

Great job, by the way. You were kind, gracious and showed great Christian love.

Good job, Justin! You hit some good points and showed where the Mormon was going against scripture and the meaning of grace.

You did this very tactfully and lovingly, imo, which is very important. I think you may have planted some seeds here.

If you get to talk to this guy again, maybe talking about who Jesus is would be helpful since their Jesus is just a spirit child of God like all of us (acc. to them).

I also saw you recommended the website of my friend, Bill McKeever, www.mrm.org. I've known Bill for about 10 years. That is a great website he has.

    Thanks marcia,

Keep praying. It appears that her mother has now decided to ban her from the study rather than have a sit down. I am hoping to stop by her house and see if I can get the discussion started, but want to make sure of the Spirit's leading first.

annsni is right. So often, the cults use OUR language but THEIR dictionary.

Always always ask them to define what they mean.

This encourages me to do some witnessing... I think you did a great job...

I have Jehavah's witnesses in my family so its tuff with some of their ways of one tracked thinking and in a sense brain-wash...

Yes! I've posted links to his site here on the BB several times when the topic of Mormons comes up. He is a neat guy, and his wife is great, too!

    Mormonism 101

Great book for learning just how different Mormon beliefs are from Christianity. A real eye opener. "God was once a man, and we can become gods and create our own worlds." "Mormon literature supercedes the bible." "Heaven is dvided into different realms, according to how you lived your life."

Until you understand how Mormonism is different.. and so very, very wrong and hell-bound... it is very hard to talk to and witness to a Mormon.

I will be praying for all who will be discussing beliefs.
