You are correct that the Holy Spirit works through you after you are declared righteous. You have to be entered into the race before you can run. What you are saying though, is that if there is no working through you, then there is no imputed righteousness. We are merely understanding that there is a difference between imputed righteousness which is by faith and requires no works, and practical righteousness which is by faith working in you.

You are still trying so hard to prove a works based righteousness. The ONLY works that bring righteousness is that of Christ. Your works are rubbish.

RIght, and practical righteousness is whose righteousness, if the difference between you and another person comes down to your work (or how much you "allow" Christ to work as opposed to how much he/she "allows" Christ to work)?

Face it, you've got a works-based gospel and you can't escape it. Your heresy is catching up to you. You can run, but you can't hide. (I've always wanted to say that.)

It should be crystal clear to any onlookers why the ME folks have been avoiding this question like the plague. Any attempt to answer it exposes the heresy in their non-gospel.

The problem is, there are works. There is also a call for believers to have good works. And then you have that most maligned verse in scripture where James says a man is justified by works. You can ignore works, but they are still there. My doctrine says that you are saved freely by believing, regardless of works. Your doctrine says if I don't have works then my faith is not counted for righteousness.

But there is no such thing as a works-based gospel, which is a gospel you preach.

It says nothing of the sort. Maybe you should familiarize yourself with the one true gospel before you start making up new ones.

Sure it does. Your one true gospel is upside down. You believe that it is hard to get saved, but once you get there it's easy street. My gospel says anyone can be saved by believing and there is no added on requirement of proving your faith by your works.

This is exactly what Tozer was talking about in the sermon that was posted in the other thread. Yes we are saved by grace through faith alone. But now we have taken that one truth and exalted it to the exclusion of all other truth. There is accountability for believers, and believe it or not, we will be judged for our works. Claiming grace through faith alone doesn't absolve us from the responsibility.

You are obviously totally ignorant of the gospel. I'm not surprised, though.

Just a request for information, please, J. Jump. I saw the question (asking whose righteousness gets you into the kingdom) on the Tootsie Roll thread (no idea what a tootsie roll is though :) ) I also saw on that thread your reply where you stated that you had already answered that question. And now in this new thread you say the same sort of thing again. There are so many threads on this board, some with a great number of messages on them. I certainly don't have the time to read them all, and I imagine that many others are in the same situation. Could you help us out by either giving a link to the message where you answered the question, or at the very least tell us which forum it was on, and give us the title of the thread? Thanks in anticipation.

I asked you to explain the gospel in the other thread, and you ignored me. Maybe there is a reason you avoid that question like the plague?

Here's a link to the Tootsie Roll Pop web page.

    http://www.tootsie.com/pops.html

Here's the quite famous old commercial on how many licks it takes to get to the center of a tootsie roll pop.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6Z2EqKQtDQ

It's a REALLY old commercial, but they still show it even today.

One problem is that you're lumping way too much into even your twisted version of the gospel, so explaining it would require unwrapping the mess you've created and starting fresh.

The gospel is actually quite simple. If you don't know the gospel, I suggest you abandon your claim to be a Christian and ask about the gospel on some other board, or in the Welcome section. I'm sure someone will be glad to witness to you.

I'll unwrap it for you. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

    How does your's compare?

That's cool. Now stop adding to it. The one true gospel is the only gospel we need.

If you want to talk about accountability or walking in the Spirit, great. That's a whole 'nother topic. Don't make it part of earning your way into a kingdom and call it another gospel "of the kingdom". That's when it becomes heresy.

Thanks! We have similar sweets (sorry, "candies") over here, with different names though.
