    Oh well,

It looks like you'll need to wait for her birthday or International Women's Day (March 8). IWD is still celebrated in the Russian emigre community. My MIL who lives in Metro-Sacramento double dips. Mama expects flowers on IWD and Mothers Day. My wife likes IWD because she's not a mother and IWd gives her a day to be celebrated.

Actions speak louder than words. Give it some time and they will see where you are spiritually.

However, don't be surprised if some still reject you since the reason they really don't like you may be that you are a believer (though not always doing the right thing).

    advice FWIW:
If you do the right thing and you still can't please others then please the Lord.

Psalm 56:11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

IWD (International Womens Day) pretty much is what the title says. It was started before the Russian Revolution in the 1908 by American labor unionists. They were trying to organize and bring recognition to the women dominated needle trades.

In the former Soviet Union, it started as a good socialist celebration. By the 60s, IWD had lost its political meaning. Today, it's celebrated as a general be nice to the women folk day.

I knew a missionary couple in the Crimea. They didn't have any children. The wife liked IWD because she'd get flowers and candy. On Mother's Day, she felt left out.

    Hope this helps.
