As to the gospel, Jews have been hardened, they have been given ears that can't hear and eyes that can't see.

I went over you're post and conclude Paul was not speaking to the Jews. In quoting of 2 Thess you did not include verse 10 which refers to "those who are perishing" at the time of the Antichrist, when "all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders - deceives those who are perishing." Thanks for posting.

There ain't no such thing! </font>[/QUOTE]do you mean the third law? I could have more accurately called it the 'third law of motion.' (http://www.glenbrook.k12.il.us/gbssci/phys/Class/newtlaws/u2l4a.html) or are you referring to the second part?

having the will to reject doesn't mean you have the will to accept. </font>[/QUOTE]Not that I even believe that is logical but if it were...why would you be bringing logic into it. I've been told that I always use logic as an Arminian and you are attempting to do the same thing. Using your logic I could say that having sinned doesn't mean I have responsibility for sinning.

Well, there you have it. God said it, that settles it. </font>[/QUOTE]Correct me If I'm wrong, but if God had said that, He would not have said "for we know, brothers" God has no siblings. Nor would he have said "loved by God", he would have instead said, "whom I love".

No, God did not speak or write these words.

Such disrespect for verbal-plenary inspiration is unsettling.

    What doublespeaking nonsense.

I'm sorry, but if Paul is speaking about "unbelieving Jews" in 10-12, He didn't suddenly change subject matter in vs 13.

MORE doublespeak nonsense. And JUST the kind of nonsense that, as of late, has made me wonder which matters more to some people - winning a debate or being true to God's word.

    Deal with it!

it isn't doublespeak to say a being is able to will one thing and not will another. I can will myself to write a letter, but i can't will myself to travel back in time. Will is only as adequate as the ability of the willer.

If a man is in bondage to sin and doesn't seek God, his will CANNOT and WILL NOT seek God! Only by divine intervention can that will be enabled to repentance and faith. He can will to sin all he wants, but he cannot will his own salvation. it is only by God's will such a feat is accomplished. Calling this doctrine 'doublespeak' is a cop-out. Why not present an equally compelling counter-argument?

funny you would bring this up texas.

please deal with this one verse....

    "no one seeks after God"

if you deal with it...you are seeking truth. if you change the meaning...or run from it...or post a verse on another subject...you are wanting only to win a debate. just address this one verse. you can use context of the passage if you want....for as i say..."context is KING". just do not go to another passage. We know your thoughts on Gods love. we consider Gods love each time you post another verse on God love. What about this ONE passage?

    deal with this texas

    "no one seeks after God"

Is this the passage you refer to? i'm just curious:

Psa 14:1-3 [[To the chief Musician, [A Psalm] of David.]] The fool hath said in his heart, [There is] no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, [there is] none that doeth good. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, [and] seek God. They are all gone aside, they are [all] together become filthy: [there is] none that doeth good, no, not one.

No one does seek after God...but God does provide a means to seek man out, to draw, and that is with His Word and the great commission. If faith really does come by hearing (it does) and faith is based on unseen evidence (it is) there is only one way to get this unseen evidence...from hearing the Word and believing what It says is true!

    webdog,

this was posted mainly for texas..for she never answers this one thing. It started with this post....every time i post it..she never comes back....but rather starts on another forum.

    ****************
    1)God is
    2)God makes man
    3)Man falls into sin
4)God gives a promise of redemption
    5)Christ comes
6)God invites all to be saved
    7)Man believes and is saved

both of us will agree to this..or i think we do
this is the gospel..is it not?

now add this..”no one seeks after God”

where do you place this Bible truth? I place it between 6 and seven.

but then how do we get to 7?
    election

you say you deal with all verses.
deal with..”no one seeks after God.
    where does this go?

    ************************

you may have seen this before.

what you posted above..,works for me
...if you do not fill in the gaps as some do

many from your side post god is love...and wants all to be saved...so it is wrong to believe in election.

well...its in the bible...maybe you do not understand election...so then it is in "Gods hands" to understand. if this is the case...fine. this is better then changing the meaning ...or saying it is not there.

    but what you said works
this is why i say this..

God does seek man...just as you say.
but the bible also says..man does not understand their need for God...and this is where "no one seeks God" comes in.

also look at how John tells of it in john 1...the light came into the darkness....Christ came..the light of truth shines...but the darkworld does not understand.

faith ...as you said above...it comes by hearing

hearing in this case means...hearing and understanding.

    How is this done?

    1) Gods word.
    2) believers sharing the gospel
    3) both

Do all that read understand? no
do all that hear from a believer understand? no

BTW..a believe sharing the gospel is really God calling others to Him..is it not?

so...who believes? those that place their trust in HIM.

why them?...the holy spirit worked...gave them understanding....and that is when faith comes

so..anyway....the point of my post was to ask texas once again..where do you place this truth.

i do agree with your words. as long as you do not fill in the gaps

    In Christ...James

I've answered it a dozen times, James.

In fact, I specifically quotes you in answering it once.

I no longer know if you are not reading them, not understanding them, or just lying about them not being answered.

I suspect that because I am not giving you the answer you WANT you are claiming it is not being answered. The problem is, you WANT the wrong answer.

    Jarthur001,
    WHO was it said ABOUT?
    WHEN was it said?
    WHY was it said?
    WHERE was it said?

In order to answer those four SIMPLE Questions, YOU must know the CONTEXT in which the phrase was said! Thus you must stop taking scripture out of its context to use for YOUR purposes.
