    I just saw, again, someone insinuate that another gentleman isn't well educated because of typo's or sentence formation. I'd like to ask....
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    How old are you? (Feel free to generalize.)
    Did you take typing in High School?
    Did you learn on a computer, electric typewriter or manual typewriter?
    How fast do you type?
    Do you have physical limitations that affect your typing ability?
    Do you have eyesight problems that affect your ability to proof read your posts?
    Are you hearing impaired? (Non-hearing members form sentences differently than the hearing members might.)
    Do you have an older computer or keyboard problem that affects your posts?
    Are you a person who thinks fast and sometimes gets ahead of yourself when typing, hence not making sense?
    Did you take typing in High School? Yes, for several years. It was required.
    Did you learn on a computer, electric typewriter or manual typewriter? Manual
    How fast do you type? 120 wpm
    Do you have physical limitations that affect your typing ability? No
    Do you have eyesight problems that affect your ability to proof read your posts? Yes, but I'm having eye surgery one week from today.
    Do you have an older computer or keyboard problem that affects your posts? No
    Are you a person who thinks fast and sometimes gets ahead of yourself when typing, hence not making sense? I tend to 'rethink' and want to add more, but don't think faster than I type.
    How old are you?
    27.
    Did you take typing in High School?
    No, but it was a minor part of a data processing class I had to take for one year.
    Did you learn on a computer, electric typewriter or manual typewriter?
    Mainly on a computer.
    How fast do you type?
    About 60 wpm.
    Do you have physical limitations that affect your typing ability?
    No.
    Do you have eyesight problems that affect your ability to proof read your posts?
    I'm partially colourblind, but that's probably not a great excuse. I am a bit dislexic.
    Are you hearing impaired? (Non-hearing members form sentences differently than the hearing members might.)
    My hearing's not great, but I wouldn't say that I'm hearing-impaired.
    Do you have an older computer or keyboard problem that affects your posts?
    No, but I have one of those split keyboards. It's a real pain when typing with one hand.
    Are you a person who thinks fast and sometimes gets ahead of yourself when typing, hence not making sense?
    If I do, I usually edit and rephrase before I post.
    As to the rules of the board, don't remember any rule against typos, nor requirement for proof reading.
    Maybe there oughta be a rule about people that don't like them :)
    How old are you? (Feel free to generalize.)
    Older than the computer :D
    Did you take typing in High School?
    Yes
    Did you learn on a computer, electric typewriter or manual typewriter?
    Manual
    How fast do you type?
    Last time I was tested: 119 wpm
    Do you have physical limitations that affect your typing ability?
    No
    Do you have eyesight problems that affect your ability to proof read your posts?
    No
    Are you hearing impaired? (Non-hearing members form sentences differently than the hearing members might.)
    No
    Do you have an older computer or keyboard problem that affects your posts?
    no
    Are you a person who thinks fast and sometimes gets ahead of yourself when typing, hence not making sense?
    I may do this, but I try to proof my posts before I post.
    Note: I have been on the internet now for about 10 years. At first I was on e-mail lists rather than message boards and I was appalled at the misuse of words, poor grammar, and misspelled words.
    I will say that most people on the Baptist Board are not as bad as the earlier lists I was on.
    I dislike acronyms. I find it much easier to spell out the word and to read words than to figure out the short cuts that people use on the internet, but that shows I am from the "Old School."
    A person's typing ability really has nothing to do with their ability to write concise sentences.
    To me, there is also a difference in an obvious typo and a misspelled or misused word.
    The size of a person's hands also determines their typing skills.
    Learning is continuous and we should be open to new ideas and suggestions.
    </font>[/QUOTE]Though I was never sure when the computer was invented I can remeber when I took my first college course in computers. It was called Fortran IV. We had to punch cards. The computer took up the size of an entire room, and didn't have the ability to do what a laptop does today.
