Huh! About 15 of them (all guys) are living in a house catty-cornered across the street from me. They play that mariachi-oompah music all the time. (I counter with Lynard Skynard)

Under Bush the power of the Presidency has increased tremendously. That was one thing I didn't like that has been going on. As I've said here many times, I would far prefer that individuals and the church take care of poor people. It hasn't happened in my life time. I believe it was more common 1900-1959. I think going farther away from that. Do you actually believe the church will step in and do that? I don't. So, it's equivalent to saying that you don't think it's your responsibility to help the poor (not one or two but large numbers) when you say that the church should do that.

I'm sure the other neighbors find it refreshing to be in such a multi cultural area.

Well, I know my church has/does provide for the poor--from food pantries, to charities, to clothes and other items, to mission work for food and shelter as well as personally helping out(as well as most people in my church I know do). There will always be poor and there will always be people who abuse charity. I would rather take the Republican stance of teach them to fish(for most) but sometimes you need to feed them as well. Overall it is not the responsibility of the Government---if enough isn't being done then Christians should feel the shame and step up.
And regarding the info on the link for the Bible and war? I see you left no comment on that.:wavey:

Our church has a very active social welfare program, including construction work, food, help with utilities, etc.

As for presidential power, it has always waxed and waned. Andrew Jackson and his successors were a lot like Putin and his boys, but by 1856, you had a president with little power, then followed by one who ran a virtual dictatorship (Lincoln). It can go from powerful (Nixon) to weak (Ford, Carter) to strong again (Reagan), in no time at all.

Not to mention the cover up by the media of the Edwards affair until Obama got the nomination given to him by the DNC...

How did Obama get votes in Michigan when his name wasn't on the ticket?
The DNC and their crooks gave them to him...

And they cried foul in 2000... over idiots in FL that are not smart enough to know how to vote correctly!

Most days Joshua is a wonderful child but today he is being a brat....:BangHead:

He loves sports, but right now he only follows the Arkansas Razorbacks and NASCAR. He just fell asleep on the living room floor watching the NASCAR race....thank goodness. He was wound up today.

Yeah, we get our grand kids, and it's amazing how they wear you out. The best part about it is when they leave, and you can enjoy the memories of the activities you did, in peace.

49 ? Very good. I've been 47 for a few months. I have a 16 year old daughter, and my marriage gave me 2 grandsons, 8 & 5, and one on the way.

I know this is off topic so this will be my last post on this, but I just have to tell you how the Lord has blessed us.

My wife was 38 and I was 44 when we got married. She had been married for 15 years until her husband decided to leave her and go become a Wiccan. Up until she was 33 she had tried to have children, surgeries, pills, the whole fertility treatment thing. Finally, at age 33 she was told that she just couldnt conceive and she quit trying. At age 35 she got divorced and at age 38 we got married, her thinking that she could never get pregnant.

Well, we were married for only two months when she called me from the doctor's office and said "I'm pregnant".

Joshua is our little miracle baby and a true gift from God.

Ok, I wont go off topic again.

I'd buy land in Canada or Australia if she became president.

I put him as a write in on most of the ballots I mailed to Michigan. I assume others did also.

The instructions were in English, now how was that fair?

I'm laughing, but not sure if you meant it as a joke. But even if you didn't, that's some funny stuff.

Todd is WAY better looking than Michelle and I think he knows a lot more about life than she does. I'd have a ball with him around. :)
