    Since it's Christmastime, I have a favorite Christmas hymn to share that we never sing in our church anymore.

    Gentle Mary Laid Her Child

    Gentle Mary laid her Child lowly in a manger.
    There He lay the undefiled,
    to the world a stranger.
    Such a Babe in such a place,
    can He be the Savior?
    Ask the saved of all the race who have found
    His favor.

    Angels sang about His birth.
    Wise men sought and found Him.
    Heaven's star shone brightly forth, glory

    rlvaughn, I am extremely thankful to you again. I enjoyed the music and the verses. We often sing it at the chapel but I didn't know the site.Thanks again.

    The other day I mentioned about the song
    "Hail, thou once despised and still rejected king" but the most sites show it with different verses ( Galilean King instead of rejected King) with different music. Now I found the right song with the same music that I used to listened to.

    I don't get to hear very many hymns anymore at all. I'd be glad to get even, "And can it be?" or "Come thou fount."
    But, you know, even when I hear them, they're all cut down. Four verses and only four verses are sung, as if singing five or six might tear some hole in the universe and doom mankind.

    For instance, look at all 19 verses of O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
    Noone sings so much of the long songs anymore.

    I've been choosing the music at church the past month and have been incorporating hymns. This past Sunday we sang "Come Thou Fount" and "All Hail the Power of Jesus' Name". Previous weeks when sang "Solid Rock" and "Great is Thy Faithfulness". I'm not popular with those who enjoy"Happy-Clappy" ot "7-11" songs ... but I miss the old hymns and I do not believe I'm alone on that front.
