    1. Okay. That means nothing. Many here have no doubt as to his salvation either. Many here long to see him be saved.

    2. Hymaneus and Alexander followed a slightly different path and were spoken of as ones who were lost. Jim, you just have to ignore too much of the N.T. to take the same position you have.

    3. Usually, it is the opposition that abuses the labels. I have seen guys despise fundamentalists, dispensationalists, etc. Wait, that was you.

    4. Yes, I do.

    5. I wasn't there, but I studied them well. I know enough about them to know that "Joyful, joyful, we adore thee" is a modernist song full of untruth (how many people sing that song unknowing its roots and theology is scary).

    6. That would sure make it easy Jim. We just must be true to Christ first though, so advice rejected.

but Christ, Paul, John, Peter, and the like had no problem accusing people of false doctrine and calling them dogs, even.

The people on this Board are NOT Christ, Paul, John, or Peter.

And I believe that there are accusations of people with false doctrine that are getting totally out of line and certainly not biblical.

As to Pastor Bob's scriptures, it may be well that some of us avoid certain people currently on this Board.

We can conveniently recall some scriptures and apply them to all, but we have great difficulty recalling those scriptures which have reference to ourselves.

It seems, I recall a scripture telling us to keep our bodies under control at all times (Paul was speaking), yet brother Massdak talks about someone else "making his blood boil." (Now, this is not to pick on the good brother, who means well). Control was not Brother Joshua's problem, yet we like to pick holes in him. We can instruct, but we must obey ALL the scriptures ourselves before we remove the toothpick from another's eye whilst a great log is lodged in our own.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Exactly. The scriptures admonish us to separate ourselves from people who 'talk the talk' but do not 'walk the walk'.

Maybe we need a new forum "Liberals vs Conservatives".

Were Paul, John, and Peter supersaints, or had they sinned also? Just curious.

Yes, I think they were supersaints and they set examples for us to follow, including what to do when one sins.

Bro. Ed...no disrespect; but those people were not banned because they were liberals.

They were banned because they believed in and promoted homosexuality.

Isn't it a shame that this topic is still dividing the board? It seems so unnatural to me that Christians would defend something God so strongly condemned (or defend other people who promote it).

This started out to be a positive thread about relating to others and it has been hi-jacked into something ugly.

I think it should be shut down before any more attacks are made or any more feelings are hurt.

It is a shame if any topic divides this Board. We, as Christians should be able to discuss scriptures, beliefs, doctrine calmly without personal attacks.

I missed the entire episode of the Homosexual discussions, etc. One, because I was not on the Board at that time and two because I do not read the threads about Homosexuals.

I am thankful that I do not have this problem and I pray for those who do. I question that certain people that I know were promoting homosexuality, but I can't be sure because I didn't read the threads. Perhaps they were suggesting that we, as Christians should not be judgmental, we should state our beliefs and stand firm in our beliefs.

I think that we should remember that Christ told us to Love one Another.

I hope that I did not offend or hurt anyone's feelings by disagreeing with them. I am not hurt when someone expresses their opinions. I believe it is their right to do so, but should be done in a friendly, loving manner.

I agree. I'm not a lib by any stretch of the imagination but losing Joshua was a big blow to the board.

I hope I'm not speaking out of line here because I don't want embarrass him but about a year ago, maybe a little more, I had some very serious troubles going on and Joshua was one of the few people I felt comfortable talking to about it. There was no judgement in his words, only encouragement and grace.

He sent me several kind and encouraging e-mails to "talk me down from the ledge" when I was hurting.

    Amen!
Someone once challenged me: "Click on your profile, then view your previous posts. Remembering we are all Brothers and Sisters in Christ, examine your posts on the list." Do they exhibit the Love of Christ that we are exhorted to possess?

More importantly, what would a lost person perceive about the comments made?

I can be sure because I read them. I am not saying that Joshua is not a nice person. I am saying that he openly promoted homosexuality and he was not hesitant about stating his beliefs on the subject, which were in direct conflict with the scriptures.

There is a difference in loving the sinner and loving his sin. God admonished us STRONGLY not to do that. Jesus loved the sinner; He certainly did NOT condone his sin.

BTW, this thread is STILL off the OP's topic...

What would a lost person perceive about the comments promoting gay rights? </font>[/QUOTE]If the lost person does not see the Love of Christ in the comments, I would dare imagine that the intent of the statement would be perceived as innocuous.

This is a very kind thing to say and I agree with you. The posts that I read were encouraging and full of grace.

There is also a huge difference in saying one understands homosexuality and one promotes it.

I wish I could say I understand it, but I don't. I agree on the Board's stating upfront its position on the matter, and its right to make such a statement. We must always respect the Board's right, whether we agree or not. In this respect, some went overboard, but then they were provoked to respond and those people are equally guilty, in my mind. We ought not to provoke the brethren..I believe that is also scriptural.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Hey where are my legions of adoring fans!

    ;)

Ed Edwards is my hero ofcourse [IMG] (but that seems to be a common sentiment)
I admire Bob Griffin even if I don't show it.

I found reverent Joshua to be likable enough and not offensive in the slightest. The people who did find him offensive though are generally the folks around here who would like to drink my blood.
I won't let you have it you VAMPIRES  [IMG]
