I will no longer be posting in this forum. I have enjoyed it through the years but it is time for me to leave this forum(not the board, just this forum). I will also no longer be reading in it after I post this. Nor will I discuss anything that is political in any other forum, such as the News/Current Events forum.

In case our paths don't cross elsewhere on the Baptist Board, I wish you a good, prosperous, Christ-filled life.

I think the site would be both better and more deifying if the entire politics section was eliminated.

Staying informed and making sound, sober judgments means having meaningful debate. While it seems that we are not winning any converts to our political leanings it is still a course for information. American society is all about debate. If you don't talk you will war amongst each other.

Why make yet another announcement of yet another departure? Do you really think you are that influential around here that we need an entire thread devoted to you leaving...again?

As to why you are leaving, I'm sure it pains you that so many of us just will not or cannot see the moral superiority of your well thought out political philosophy.

You've made this call before so I suspect you'll be back some day perhaps when you change political sides again. Best wishes to you!

    Indeed!!

Perhaps he finally realized the futility of trying to defend the indefensible.

He did make many valiant attempts to make the "0" appear to be using common sense, but of course it was always a failure, so maybe he just got tired of being shown the truth of his idol!

    He'll be back!!

I wish all Democratic and Republican apologists would leave the forum so we could have meaningful debate instead of the incessant chatter of arguing which of the two philosophies born in the pits of hell are more worthy.

Republican = going to Hell in a Hand-basket

Democratic = traveling toward Perdition in a Motorized Shopping Cart

Isn't THAT the truth. Some of these folks wouldn't know a REAL debate if it hit them beside the head.

In another forum I go too, they have a real debate forum set up for all manner of topics. There one can really learn about the other side and quite possibly sway someone to their side with their convincing argument.

Here, we have the same ole same ole... It's the democrats turn to be pounded, and a few years ago it was the republicans... in the end, we get no where fast.

On the surface, it would seem, the moderators/admins of THIS board won't listen to reason and set up a real debate. The owner likes this forum the way it is as it just creates one thread after the other with pages of ads to create revenue.

Oh well, wishing thinking that things could be better I suppose....

To quote Ronald Reagan: "there ya go again." Is the big announcement necessary every time you get a [crude comments snipped] it gets a little too hot in the kitchen for ya? Like I said before politics aint for the thin-skinned and that goes for all of you. Get off the politics forum if you cant take it and find something a little more suitable to your hyper-sensitive egos.

I really don't see many people here defending the current Republican party, if you mean the one that has been into big, irresponsible spending. However, I've seen many defenders on this board for smaller gov't, lower taxes, capitalism, liberty, etc., along with a few defenders of big intrusive gov't, higher taxes, socialism, bondage, etc. The latter are the Democratic apologists (and RINO apologists to a certain degree), while the former are apologists for conservative, Biblical principles for gov't.

I just wonder how each of us would classify our own comments verses those of others given the choice of "meaningful debate" or "incessant chatter". I'll bet it's not the same as our opponents in the "debate"!

This isn't sincere debate. It's primarily hurling insults back and forth. I proposed some time ago about a more Christian political debate but it wasn't accepted. Frankly, I'm getting tired of these endless nasty arguments without a useful and thoughtful exchange of ideas.

I'm going to consider following Ken out of this.

If you proposed it, why didn't you at least follow through with it? You say you're tired of it, but you do it fairly often. It kind of rings hollow.
