Since we are talking about nakedness, how about Isaiah?

Isa 20:2 At the same time spake the LORD by Isaiah the son of Amoz, saying, Go and loose the sackcloth from off thy loins, and put off thy shoe from thy foot. And he did so, walking naked and barefoot.
    3 And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon Ethiopia;

I like to think that if the Lord spoke directly to me like he did to Isaiah that I would be obedient to him, but I gotta tell ya, this would be one rough command to obey. [IMG]

I couldn't imagine walking naked in front of people for three seconds, Isaiah did it for three years!

For some that would not be so good.

However having been resurrected, hopefuly things would have changed for the better.

My own MIL was not so bad.

Judges 4:21 Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

Sure ain't normal for a person to have his head nailed to the ground with a tent peg!

    Ouch!

Did you realize that that 2 Kings 19 and Isaiah 37 are almost word-for-word exactly the same?

Did you realize that Methuselah died before his father died?

That is a shame, parents should not have to bury their children.

Methusaleh was left out of the ark. So much for loving grandkids . . .

"Methuselah lived one hundred and eighty-seven years, and begot Lamech. After he begot Lamech, Methuselah lived seven hundred and eighty-two years, and had sons and daughters. So all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred and sixty-nine years; and he died. Lamech lived one hundred and eighty-two years and had a son" Gen 5:25-28

Lamech's son was Noah. The Bible records in Genesis 7:6 that Noah was 600 years old when the floodwaters were on the Earth. In light of this information, we can take the age of Methuselah when Lamech was born (187), add to that Lamech's age when he begot Noah (182) and the age of Noah when the floodwaters came (600), and determine that Methuselah was 969 years old the year the Flood occurred

[187+182+600=969]. Since Genesis 5:27 indicates this was the age at which Methuselah died, it is logical to conclude that he died the year of the Flood. However, the Bible does not indicate that he died as a result of the Flood; his death may have precipitated the Flood [pun intended] since many interpret his name prophetically to mean "when he dies, destruction".

No dogmatism here. But if he were unregenerate, drowning in the Flood like all the rest of humanity would have been expected.

Well, in the case of Methuselah's father, I'd give him a pass. After all, it'd be a little difficult for him to bury his son.

In Henry Morris' book The Genesis Record on p.160 he claims that Methusalah's name actually meant something like "When he dies, it shall be sent." IOW, Morris seems to think that Methuselah himself might have been a sign of the times.

Close enough to the Hebrew - and his father, Enoch, was the most godly man between creation and Noah so it might haved been prophetic.

When he died, the Flood would come. And God allowed, in His sovereign mercy and longsuffering, Methusaleh to live the longest to give the longest time for man to repent.

I preached on this in a Wednesday night service series. We are going through Judges....what jumped out at me was the fact that he was LEFT handed....I don't recall that distinction being made before....anyone?

My dh is a leftie and this is one of his favorite stories. The reason this is so significant is that Ehud's weapon was on his right side, which usually meant the wearer came in peace. Right-handed men wore their weapons on the left side for easier access for fighting. So, Ehud was allowed easy access inside because the guards assumed he came in peace and was not a threat to the king.

The scriptures tell of a giant with six fingers on each hand, and six toes on each foot.

2 Sam 21:20 And there was yet a battle in Gath, where was a man of [great] stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the giant.

The scriptures say there were giants in the world, and giants were often known to have extra fingers and toes. There is ancient art from Babylon that many believe to be Nimrod. In some of this art Nimrod has six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot. I cannot see that in this photo, but if it is to scale Nimrod must have been at least ten feet tall. He is holding an adult lion with one arm. Amazing.
