I got to meet George Carlin and Kevin Smith (the director, not the D.C.Talk guy) yesterday while they were filming a movie called "Jersey Girl" at the police station next door to my sister, Terri's, post office in Paulsboro, N.J.

She met him a few days ago and has gotten to talk to him several times since and even had her picture taken with him and Ben Affleck, the other star of the movie.

Yesterday, I went to have lunch with her at her office and when she walked me to my car, Carlin walked by.

She waved and introduced us and we talked for a few minutes about the movie and where all they were shooting. He was very polite to us and, from what I could see, to the other people in the area.

The day before, he even swiped a couple of doughnuts from the catering truck for the carriers in my sister's office.

    Kevin Smith wasn't so polite.

The movie also stars Jennifer Lopez and Liv Tyler (who wasn't in any of these scenes). One of the cops guarding Jennifer Lopez told me that she was really mean to the little girls who stand around to get a glimpse of her.

As we drove by, I saw maybe a hundred little girls and a couple of them had made posters for her but the cop I talked to said she wouldn't even look at them.

    Ahhh...my brush with greatness.

    That's the one, mom.

He is funny, especially his "AM/FM" and "Class Clown" albums but I can only take his comedy in limited doses anymore because he's so dirty.

In case you're wondering, yes, he did drop a couple of "F bombs" during the course of the conversation.

Yeah, Carlin was stationed at the same base I was, in Shreveport. He moonlighted as a DJ.

Which got him in a bit of trouble. There as a Colonel on the base who, because of his nervousness was widely known as "Shakey".

Carlin dedicated a song to him one night.

    "All Shook Up".

He was no longer on the air after that. Far as I know, he was no longer on the base, either.

George Carlin makes Jerry Springer look like a Boy Scout! You couldn't pay me enough money to like what comes out of his mouth!

A lot of the profanity in Carlin's comedy is exploring how it fits into our language, which I think can be a good thing, not that I approve of profanity.

    Hey, Smoke Eater!

Are you alright? Do you have fever with those thoughts? Carlon is sick, man! He is a very disturbed, sick man! And Hollywood is turning folks out like that by the droves!

The only reason that Carlon and his sick band is allowed to "stay around" is because folks laugh and laugh at those sick words coming out of his sick mind!

I didn't say that I agreed with everything he said, I just that he made some good points here and there.

    Mike,

So, are you going to see him again? I'm very envious.

I doubt it, Joshua, this was more or less just by chance.

They're coming back here to shoot, though.

Good points here and there! Where is "here and there?" My soul and body! And then someone else gets on who is envious of someone else meeting the sloutch! I tell you what--when Carlon has some "good points" to say--let me know! I hear they are expecting a freeze in hell this winter!

Well then, put on your parka.

Look, I didn't say that I agreed with everything he said or that everything he said was necessarily edifying.

All I said was that he was polite to me personally and that he has made some thought provoking comments. Personally, I like to have my thoughts provoked. That's how I learn and grow.

I'm sorry if that offends you so.

What is your experience with George Carlin? It can't be much because you can't even spell his name right.

George Carlin came to my son's school a couple of years ago, and of course, he went to see him. He said there were a lot of people that started walking out on him. He has a different brand of humor, and he does love to make fun of religion. I guess that didn't go over too well in the Bible Belt. But I do like Carlin myself and my son did stay for the entire show. [IMG]

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

    Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

    Smoker eater!
Heard the fella on cable one nite. Then on certain commercials advertising some of his upcoming shows.

I find that he has somewhat of a negative IQ when the only way to get people to laugh is to go "bleepin', beep--beep, bbbbeeeeeeeeeeep!"(Words in quotations are cuss words--the million things one cannot say on television thing!)

Don't get offended if I don't like the chump and don't get offended if I misspell his name! Lots of folks misspell my name--but I don't go around acting like I'm fixin' to take a "swing" at whoever does it!! Lighten up on the misspelled words and on carrying on about parkas--cause I've done made arrangements to miss that place!

    Blackbird
