    Dear Mr. President,

I worked nearly 20 years to earn the right to have a better than average health-care plan for my retirement years. In fact, I went 6 years in-a-row without a pay raise, because the State of California had an ongoing pay freeze in place. Because I was in management, I had no union to fight for my pay increases.

However, the state did promise me my Cadillac CTS health-plan upon retirement, and I will not go easy should you impose one more tax on me in order to keep this insurance.

I believe I speak for all Americans, when I tell you to "back-off" and reconsider the life-time of financial and emotional damage your "pipe-dream" health-care plan will bring down on people such as me.

What you want so badly to accomplish in the name of your legacy, is just not fair.

If you will, allow me to tell you a little something about why the King of England lost this new nation to a group of "tea drinking rebel-rouser's!" These folks were being taxed to the point of being pushed to the point in their life where they could no longer support their family and their modest way of life.

I truly believe that you have presented us with a bill that will push the average American into the proverbial corner, leaving them no alternative but, to come out fighting in order to regain the freedoms that this nation once promised and provided to everyone who was willing to die for in order to remain free of the King's greedy tax.

Please take some time. Take a step back, and give this bill the time that is needed in order for it to be written in a way that will deliver health-care to those who do not have health care, while your bill allows the rest of us to live out our life with the health plans we worked long and hard for.

    Sincerely Yours,

    Pastor Paul

Too bad, according to some, that you don't have the "resolve" of the Amish! But, of course, the tax on a "Cadillac" plan is a bad idea on top of another bad idea. I wonder why Obama chose to call it "Cadillac"? Does that represent the best in vehicles to him?

    How was it worded?

In Washington State we have case law which defines pension promises as deferred compensation.

Retirement income is deferred compensation. It's wages you earned - key word - but wait until later to collect because you want to. You decided it would be wise to save some for later and not spend it all when you're young. It's taxable if it wasn't taxed when you earned it. As far as income tax goes that seems okay! But, unfortunately, the federal government has figured out how to tax you unfairly by adding a tax to social security benefits if you earn more than a certain amount from other sources such as a pension plan. You get less because you earned more and conversely you get more because you earned less. That's how the liberals think! So, in effect, you pay more because you worked harder or smarter and earned more. The social security benefits, of course, aren't yours to take and do with as you want and you can't pass them on to your heirs either. The next step in the same direction as all this health care baloney we're going through will be an effort to normalize all retirement income so everyone can have a "fair" income. So if you have a "Cadillac" or "BMW" pension plan, 401k plan, or IRA - that you worked for - you'll probably get taxed on it at a higher rate to pay for some other person's time on the beach. Beyond that they might just confiscate it all and redistribute as they see fit. But, of course, union workers, government works, maybe Amish, or Mormons, or American Indians, or blacks, or some "special" groups will be exempt from it. It's all about socialism and it's selling much better than I ever imagined it could in America!

    That's a Good Question.

I'm not sure, does it make a difference in how this tax can effect my health plan???

Perhaps he thinks that Cadillacs are excessive.

He is part of the crowd that wants to force us into little rubberband powered shoeboxes - hence the purpose of the auto industry take over.

    Dear Righteous Dude

I too have worked long and hard for my retirement.
But not being in a union or associated with government, no one saved for me except myself. No one will pay me a dime after I've retired, there will be no health benefits other than what I can pay for.

Sure you've been through though times so have I.
There’s been times where I’ve not gotten raises 4 years in a row due to the financial hardships in the medical field.
In fact I’ve never gotten a raise more than 3% in my life and haven’t received a cost-of-living raise for more than 10 years.

Over the years I’ve amassed a small fortune, a very small fortune that should cover me for the first two or three years of retirement.
Therefore I don’t plan on retiring, it’s not a benefit I’ll get to enjoy.

I’m fed up caring for 50 year old retired teachers that pay little or no co-pay and complain that they pay too much taxes.

I’m fed up with union employees with their "Cadillac" insurance premiums who expect to be freed from taxes while recieving large "tax-free" benefits worth tens of thousands of dollars

I’m fed up with Congress who has their own special health care plan separate from their constituents.

I know your own health isn’t the best and you use that special health care plan you have. It's sure nice that its there.
But the healthcare workers that care for you will never have the chance to get such care.

But the real problem isn't with the exemptions that these special high-end health plans get, the real problem is with the whole plan Congress will be voting on soon. It's time to dump it.

So which verse says the USA must become a socialist nation for Jesus to return? If you can find it, seems you should be embracing socialism.

    Too bad.

    He just doesn't care.

Even if his plan hurts more people than it helps, which it will, he still doesn't care.

He's an ideologue. Nothing else matters. He knows what's best for everyone.

    Check This Out...

I am not going to get into a theological hair-splitting debate with any of you. However, for your information, the chapters I am embracing are in Ezk. 38-39; Daniel 11:40-45; and Joel 2:20. I have read and followed Hal Lindsey and embrace "most" of his ideas. However, even some of his ideas don't sit well with me!

As for America in end time prophesy... well, it just doesn't seem to be there. Of course there are believers and theologians who think differently, and that's great. All that truly matters in the end is that there's coming a day when the Lord will return [I Thess. 4:16-17], and that is all that matters to me, and that is all that should matter to you guys [who are attempting to stir up a pot of useless cyber-debates]. Being ready for His return is what it's all about. Are you ready? I know I am...

Whether the U.S. is wiped out in the end days; whether Gog and Magog come down and fight Israel, and each other are simply up to your theology and your "leanings".

I am not going to debate you guys, because I'm sure you ALL have your thoughts well laid out. Let's just leave it at this... Jesus is coming back, and that will, and should be, the day that we are living and working for as a church. The fields are white for the harvest, and we need to be out there doing the Lord's bidding!

I'm sure that you would agree that in-fighting as to whose theology is right, or wrong is spiritually ridiculous, and totally unnecessary, plus it could be a sin [fighting with your brothers over what the Bible may, or may not mean].

I hope we can agree on this. If not, I refuse to get sucked into a cyber-debate with any of you over splitting theological-hairs. Peace, and love in Jesus to all who do not agree with my beliefs. If you are correct, so be it. It won't keep any of us out of Heaven, and that is fact, and there are plenty of verses to support that comment.:saint:

    Shalom,

    Thanks for the Input

The truth is, those who administer the HMO {Kaiser Permanente} I'm on, will get the same care I am getting, because they have the same insurance I have. In fact, their plan is much better than mine, because they have a "zero" co-pay. Mine continues to go up each year. I just received my 2009 membeship statement, and it shows, my co-pays for meds and visits in 2009 were in the high $3,000.00 range. That is a lot when you only have a state retirement plan and SSDI.

However, and I'll pray for your situation, it sounds like you are in worse shape than I could ever imagine. I'm sorry you have so little to fall back on, and as I said in my post, you deserve a national plan to care for your health. I do not stand in your way to have this. It is just not right for the country to take away plans from those who are already covered, and that is what may happen. Retirees in my system may be switched over to the new plan, and that is my complaint.

    Love in Jesus,

    Pastor Paul :type:
