Since most believe, as do I, that the Gospel of Mark had a 're edited: longer ending, where should the text actually ended at?

Know MANY of the people in pentacostal circles like to claim the end of Mark as their favorite "proof text" to support signs and wonders for today, but IF we actually had it really end where it should have...

Would we be messing anything substantial? ANY good reason not to delete them off new translations?

    Probably not with a preposition...

According to my trusty UBS4 there are, in the shorter ending, two more sentences following verse 8 in chapter 16.

Does it matter what ending we use?

I've thought about this issue for nearly 15 years. Honestly, I don't know. While I'm partial to the shorter version I'd like to believe it is because the textual evidences show it is more authentic. That said it would also be nice since we have a particularly ornery group of oneness Pentecostals beleaguering our ministry.

The longer ending has a longer tradition of acceptance, but I am hesitant to think that means it is authentic. Nevertheless, it does make for interesting dinner party conversations with otherwise quiet Greek scholars.

    That is all :)

Why are they "bothering" your ministry at this time?
I am a "Bapticostalist" and trust me, do know how unbiblical and heretical their viewpoints are concerning nature of God, as they deny the Trinity, and baptism and tongues, as one MUST be baptised JUST in name of jesus AND speak in tongues to show "really saved!"
